Unhappy Somethng always happens!

Its started already! Son is stuck at Palma airport with Easyjet flights cancelled until at least Thursday back to Gatwick at the moment. So what are the odds of me getting on a Gatwick flight tomorrow to get to Palma I wonder?! May well find my son still at the airport! His girlfriend is pulling her hair out as she has an interview to get to on Thursday; son has a phone full of business queries etc etc. Horrid end to a lovely holiday. He is stuck in the queue trying to get some sence out of Easyjet. Good luck on that one boy!

Sorry to hear that Bella. What is the problem with Easyjet? Who are you flying with?

Thank you, thats very kind, but no!! Think it maybe something to do with the French - again - but not sure. Am in the process of trying to track down the reason, so will report later! What a good start! Hubby even suggested that son got to Bristol on another flight then he would pick them up at 1am! A few options flying around at the moment (or not actually!), hope the mobile phone doesnt go flat at Palma before we get back to him!!

Its definately something to do with the Air Traffic Controllers strike in France. So unless we are willing to pay about £400 plus to get them back, they are stuck there for a while. So guess what - they can get a couple more days of sunshine! As for us - well, we will check again early tomorrow to see what is happening. We WILL get over!!!

It doesn't seem to be all Easyjet flights. According to their website, Luton, Bristol and Liverpool all seem OK. They also 'appear' to be offering a 'free transfer' or refund, although I guess the refund would take months to come through. Maybe the transfer or refund just is just shown automatically on their website, I don't know.

I suppose also it depends if space is available on the flights and as Bella said they seem to be charging loads!
I can't find much useful info. What a pain! Hope it sorts out quickly.

Son has taken the transfer for going to Gatwick on Saturday - so will be with us for a couple of days. Sons girlfriend on the other hand has decided to go to Liverpool, then transfer on to Gatwick tomorrow. They are not a happy couple, infact, I dont even know if they are talking at the moment!!
Very concerned about our flights tomorrow now, as if nothing going back to Gatwick until Saturday, they wont send anything out FROM Gatwick to Palma surely? ARGH!

Bella, I feel tension in the air At least girlfriend will get to her interview on Thursday if she does that. I'm sure things will settle down between them after son has another 2 or 3 days holiday with you!!!!!!! You will be there tomorrow hopefully.

They will try to sort it i'm sure. They can't afford the cost of a disruption especially after the ash problems earlier. Perhaps they may find a way to fly without going over France?? Can that be done? (I'm an English teacher not geography lol!) Wondered if they could fly round the edge then into Portugal then across.
Anyway - thinking out loud here for Bella, trying to find a solution for her to get there tomorrow lol

Eleanor, I like your way of thinking and your geography is spot on but do you really think the Easyjet pilot will divert out into the Atlantic and round in a circle to get Bella on holiday. Wouldn't that be wonderful. We could just ask the pilot to pick us up where we wanted...no travelling to aiports miles away and then ask him to go 'the scenic route' to our destination. Anyway joking apart, you would really think that they could avoid French airspace in situations like this. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that whatever is causing the problems in France get resolved very quickly, and Bella gets her holiday and we get ours (in 4 weeks time) Not that I'm counting!!!
