We visited both Bonys and Nostalgia last week, Bonys was rammed everytime we went by and the nights we called in, and as for Nostalgias, I wasn't sure what it would be like after all the hype, but what can I say what a great place, Colin and Michaela are such great hosts and make you so welcome, the staff are brilliant and work so hard. The music is varied and some of the singing was good, especially Joe the waitress who had an amazing voice, you can sit outside or in the corner quietly as some do or join in all the fun in the bar. We were lucky to be there on their first anniversary, they laid on free food, it was a great night that went on to the early hours, we rolled out at three one morning after having one for just about every one of the roads in the port, Sparky stayed on so sorry if the weather was late that morning. So a great place and a great addition to the port, give it a try, you will love it, me, I'm off to practice a song for next year, cant wait to go back.....First I was afraid I was petrified.....

You are both wrong it is Michaela the owner.
Kym, Nostalgia is in C/ Economo Torres in between the Australian Bar and Cafe Algar. Pub Imperial is a small bar on the front opposite the car park.

Knowing Davey , thought he'd turned up early for the gig !!!!

Is there any difference between Pub Imperial and Nostalgia apart from the blatantly obvious?

Hi Rab ...... I don't really know what the blatently obvious is ..... but that may be me missing the blatently obvious lol
This however is an interesting question and I guess it is down to personal taste ..... I have never been attracted to the Pub Imperial ...... don't know why .... it has just never tempted me , I guess it gives me the impression of being a touch brash ( I am not saying it is brash ..... I am merely stating the impression it gives me ) .................. as for Nostalgia .............. I wasn't sure what I would make of it ... so I went and had a look ...... from the outside it was quite low key, that attracted me ............... inside it was fairly quiet ( earlyish ) and I liked the decor ...... quite understated with nice black and white pictures and lovelly little fairylights around the bar............... it was to my taste ..... just like I guess the Imperial is to other's taste. SO I stayed and the atmosphere got livelier and I had a great time ...... as my earlier post confirmed.
I guess people will always make snap judgements about places based often on first impressions, like on so many occasions in life, first impressions get you through the door ............ nostalgia did it for me and the Bar imperial didn't.
I don't think there is anything massively different about the 2 places, they are both businesses being run by people wanting to entertain their guests ..... and each will be frequented by the people who like the look of them .... some will only like one or the other and some will like both ..... c'est la vie or should I say c' es la vida ( excuse poor spanish if incorrect )

Nostalgia also offers excellent restaurant facilities, 1st class food, at very reasonable prices, a lovely steak with glass of wine 9 euros! The music commences around 10.30 so, it does not intrude. What i would say is don't knock the place until you've tried it. Obviously a lot of money has been spent on the place! The difference between The Imperial and Nostalgia? The length of Oxford Street
