Default A touch of Nostalgia.

Nostalgia is a new addition to the port, it only opened this week. Situated where the old "R Bar" used to be, it has been refurbed to a very high spec.
Colin and Michaela are the owners, they, and their staff, Lee and Yolanda give a very warm welcome and extremely efficient service.
The bar is very cool and comfortable, a glass of white wine was €2.25 and a pint of John Smiths was €4.50. They are only open for drinks at the moment but told me they are going to be serving food very soon.
Colin DJs and plays some great oldies and does a cabaret spot, there was also a guy singing who was excellent, he did a lot of swing and ratpack stuff which i thoroughly enjoyed.
Good luck Colin and Michaela and you will see me again.

Hi Favie, i am sure you would like it. It is different to any other bar in the port, which is very refreshing.

Question

Sounds like a good place to visit but where was the 'R bar'?

The new Nostalgia bar sounds great sparky...how exciting to have somewhere a bit different. Can't wait to try it in a couple of weeks

whaley R Bar ( Nostalgia) is opposite O Hara's and next door to the Australian bar.

Yes Debz it is, i forgot to mention that they have also installed two air cleaners in the ceiling so it doesn't get smokey. I don't think it will attract a lot of youngsters it is really aimed at a more mature clientelle.

On Alpharooms website, reviewers of accomodation are classified by age.

18-35 is young couple

36+ is mature couple

Aren't they so sweeping with their groupings?

I've missed this thread for some reason, and it sounds a great place. I love swing and jazz etc and sounds just the thing for a chillout session - or two!

Good news! Sounds like a new type of club/bar has emerged, which cannot be bad at all. Hope their Mojitos are with crushed ice!!
