Batucada in Calle Llevant (a couple of doors up from The Codfather) has great music, an open terrace at the rear - and stays open late.

When Miguel & Rafa were at Bonanza my brother in law played sax on party night, do you think they'd be up for it at the new bar.

Love listening to sax and spanish guitar, IMO not enough of this type of music, it all seems to add to the atmosphere.

I agree with you Whaley, there are often 2 or 3 guys playing outside Mojito.
We popped into El Posito at about 10 last night for drinks and Toni had a Gypsy Kings cd playing it was lovely.
There was a Scottish family with a baby in a buggy, a Spansh family with 2 young kiddies and an English family with a young girl and they all seemed to be enjoying the music. The whole atmosphere was really good.
I don't think enough bars or restaurants play traditional Spanish music, do you?.

I agree with your sentiments entirely and if I knew there was going to be this type of music in any restaurant/bars I would make them my most frequently visited.

No snowy mate.
Back to the music, I agree there isn't enough bars and restaurants playing back ground music, but the problem is the music of Spain is so diverse. Sorry if I bore you but Spain has a rich history of folk and traditional music, and the one that everyone thinks of is Flamenco music which only comes from one area of Spain and does not represent the everyday music of Spain. The traditional music most Mallorcians would listen to is the music you see at fiesta on the island, consisting of bagpipes, drums and wind instruments.
But certainly more music would be great, like in Tiberi, except when they play the radio which is at best mediocre on the island.

Not much is better than to end the night being sung to by a handsome guitar player!

Absolutely Bella, i remember years ago being here in a bar on the last night of our hols. A young Spaniard and his girlfriend came in and sat at the bar with a drink, he then went out to his car and came back with a guitar. He played and sang and his girlfriend danced (flamenco), it was a perfect end to a wonderful holiday. Ahhh!! memories.

Been over a couple of times this year since the boys have been in Batucada. They haven't had any live music at all when we've been there - but that's not to say that the won't be in high season.

For what it's worth here's my take on it. Music+food= Life. Put me on the front around early evening as the sun's setting. Give me a nice glass of vino tinto and the sound of julio iglesias wafting across the airwaves and i'm at one with the world.. It's such a shame some of the bar/restaurant owners do not take that on board. I've lost count of the times you see people flock in a place when they have some nice music on.Oh well only 3 more weeks and i'm there.
