Thumbs up 25 + years of fun, football and friendship.

The celebration of 25 years of the Liverpool Ramblers/PP veterans football weekends officially kicked off tonight. The guys took over El Posito for yet another fun packed evening.
No fancy dress this year, just black polo shirts but the usual enthusiastic enjoyment of good food and a few beverages mixed with one or two short speeches, complimentary white polo shirts with a 25year anniversary logo from Toni (El Posito) for every attendee.

Another great evening and so good to see some of the old faces once again...i hope Willy (who was running late ) made it in time for a bevvy or 3 in Nostalgia .

I didn't get to the match yesterday evening but i am told that the Liverpool Ramblers lost. Some of the guys from both teams came into Nostalgia late last night and looking a little jaded .

The Liverpool Ramblers did indeed come a valiant second, to a much less "mature" team who also had many more reserves to call upon! Not helped by playing the first half into bright sunlight and in sunbathing temperatures! The score 4 -2 to the Puerto Pollensa team was really not the point of the game, it was all about the taking part and the bonhomie of the players and supporters both on and off the pitch.

The fun carried on at Can Cuarassa where we were wined and dined by the amazing restaurant with a seven - yes seven - course meal and wine. The speaches were fun and short and translated for all to enjoy, with gifts exchanged on both sides. The Liverpool Ramblers were honoured to receive a plaque by the Mayor celebrating their 25 year tour.

Even more fun continued at Nostalgia from midnight until 4am, and all I can say about that is, what goes on on tour, stays on tour! Its been a great couple of days getting to know the team and confirming what a great group of guys they all are. Roll on next year!

A few of them still at El Posito tonight, but a lot more civilised now! Thanks to Toni and Willie for presenting me with one of their smart white polo shirts this morning, and I think Colin will be arriving home with one tonight too Sparky!

Oh my goodness Bella have you turned into one of those football groupies who stalk the famous players , i am sure the lads will be delighted to be scaling the same dizzy heights as Ronaldo and Roonie .

P.S. Yes Colin came home wearing one of the polo shirts .

Thumbs up Liverpool Ramblers V Pollensa Veterans 2013

Great news, this year's game date has been finalised for Saturday 14th September.

As last year's weekend was so amazing, I'm sure there will be even more support for the team, both before, during and after the match!!

Not long now Jiggy! I have my note book ready and camera charged for photos of the match ~ and the man of the match who ever that may be! Going to be a later kick off this year, probably giving more time for the previous nights pre-match training to sink in!
