Please don't pay any amount for your EHIC cards. They are free & if anyone tries to charge you, then it is not the NHS & they are just trying to make money off the back of the NHS.

The link that we give goes directly to the NHS website & there is no request for payment.

There are some rogue websites out there like the one mentioned which charges £9.95.

Whoops - had no idea that wasn't an NHS website... it all looked very official! Oh well - it was only £9.95 for all of us so it could have been worse - but I'm glad I know for next time round!

I did not realise that the EHIC cards had an expiry date - fortunately I noticed that earlier this year and have renewed - it's very quick and simple to do.
I might add that as a result of a small mishap last August it proved most useful.
