Over Xmas the sign up on the Pine Walk entrance estimated that they would re-open for the new season next Saturday 26 February 2011.

As promised by the management the Illa d'Or was open for business to all comers today! Tables and chairs are on the terraces and I enjoyed a wonderfully refreshing pre-lunch G&T overlooking an intermittent blue sky!

I walked through the Illa d'or yesterday evening. The place was immaculate.
I managed to have a look in the lounge bar and the dining room. Really impressive.
There were people sat on the terrace and there were a few seats in the bar area near the sea.

I looked at the place a few weeks ago, and didn't think they would be open much before Easter!
The hotel needed tidying-up and they seem to have done it.

Anyone been since the refurbishment? Love to have an update on what has been done to the interior as hope to visit later in the year.

Great news to be open that early, or did they open the same time last year? anyway all we need to do now is to talk them into staying open all year round!! Now that would be good for the port.

We spent New year there many years ago and it was excellent and the Hotel was full !

Surely they werent the only Hotel to open then ? I cant remember It was over 20 years ago I know and I managed to swim in the sea on New Years day and it was freezing !!

I think I've mentioned before but I'm also amazed that they don't open right throughout the year. I'm sure it would be worth their while and great extra revenue for PP.
