Ok I stand corrected I was just looking at the rate feb last year and the general view was the pound was overvalued and the corrected rate looking forward was around the 1.28 mark so if thats correct then the rate is about there.

Thumbs up Visa Card exchange

Hi I use a Saga Visa credit card and todays rate is 1.27, better than using cash as if you pay it off in full on return no charges. Its good to be 65+

Agree about the Saga card.

We read the "Money Saving Expert" website some years back. It first told us that our Nat West card was expensive to use overseas. Then it suggested Saga. Actually it first suggested the Halifax but, for an unknown reason, they wouldnt issue us with a card.

I suppose the rate is going the existing until the result of the EU referendum is known. Your guess is as good as mine what effect either decision will have on rates but, at least, there should then be some degree of stablity.

Yeah, but I'd still rather get 1.26 and be nearly 20 years younger!!!

Default no need to be 65 !

I have been using this card since I turned 50... and I didn't tell any fibs ;-) Always a great exchange rate. Just pay in local currency and square the bill each month.
GET ONE !

Yep - Saga website says:

Before you apply for a Saga Platinum credit card, please check that the below are true:

- You're 50 or over
- You have a regular income over £12,000 a year
- You have a good credit history*
- You have a permanent UK address and bank account (Including Channel Islands and Isle of Man)

Still won't help Nick as he is so young

The pound continues it slide towards parity, today you can only get 1.138 on the high street, decided not to wait any longer and so going to buy it now! Vise exchange rate on ATM withdrawals in Spain is 117.84
