I know of a family run gardening contractor called LLEVANT the cheapest weve found in the port. Very honest hard working father and sons. Help Unlimited have his phone number if needed.

Reading the history of these posts about the dead and dying palm trees I am struck by the need for sharing more information. Is anyone circulating information to owners? I live in a community and we have dead / dying palms in our shared garden area. Do we have to approach garden companies (such as Llevant, mentioned above) or is there general advice on treatment and/or disposal anywhere else?

The only info I have as an owner is what is posted on this site. Perhaps those on communities may have more info but certainly as a villa owner no info of any description has been forthcoming from anyone other than what has been on this site.

I still have my fingers, legs and anything else crossed that ours will be ok.

What I don't understand is why they don't remove the roots as well. They could then replant with new palm trees or another type of tree.

Sunshine that is exactly what they did to the palm tree by our pool. Dug it up removed it and planted a new one! So far so good..it seems to be flourishing. Fingers crossed!

I'm really pleased that my tree seems to be ok - hope i'm not tempting fate!!

We even have new shoots, so fingers crossed.

We're currently out in PP and are really dismayed at the devestation that has been caused to a great many of the palm trees. When I get back I will post some photos. Just hope the ones along the sea front are spared, it would be such a shame to see these in such a sad state.

There is some sort of prevention treatment available - apparently involving the injection of 25 litres of fluid into the trees on a monthly basis - have no idea what is in the fluid but I don't think success is guaranteed. We are doing it with our two trees and they look OK so far - although a bit straggly because obviously we are unable to have them pruned.

Currently they are capping the affected palms. This allows them to regrow stronger. You will notice that some already have new growth coming out of the top. Inparticular this can be seen in the market square by the church and along the main road in front of the Rosa Blanca complex.
