The chicks seem to grow overnight. And keep their parents busy.

That's what I think - can't believe how quickly they grow!

I couldn't see the wee one at Hochstadt this morning but just had another look and it is under the rest. It definitely doesn't seem as active or thriving like the others. As you say, they seem to grow before our eyes. Their wings are now forming...it's amazing!

Yes, only 3 of the larger chicks now in Roettenbach. I had hoped that at least the 4 larger ones would remain. It could well have been the wet weather that played a role. Fingers crossed for the ones that are there now.

I did notice that mum was struggling to get them under her wings during the wet weather. She had about 6 attempts but there was always one left out in the cold. Just when the smaller ones were catching up a bit! Nature’s cruel sometimes

The forecast is great for the week ahead with more rain on the way, but the 3 are already quite big now, so hopefully the parents will keep finding enough food and the chicks will prosper.

What a wee shame. I did wonder as I had a quick look but couldn't see clearly. Likewise with the other nests, I seem to pick nap time!
