Have just heard from Nostalgia that they will be open tomorrow from 10.30am and will be serving bacon baps, Mesclat and Bloody Mary's etc. Open throughout the day for lunch and they have taken over the empty terraces of nearby bars/restaurants so plenty of chairs to sit and watch the tree climbing .
P.S The Hustlers will be playing from around 10pm.

Had a great night and was good to see a few forumites around the bars, i have had my traditional coffee and paracetamol breakfast so am slowly coming to life .
Unfortunately the strong wind was a problem causing lots of sparks and eye watering smoke also had a little bit of rain but not for long. This made it seem like there were not many people about but they were all ducking for cover inside the bars. I think the pipes and drums guys were following us around the Port as we saw them everywhere we went. The atmosphere was brilliant, these people don't let the weather affect their Sant Antoni celebrations .
I am uploading some photos and will post them when they are finished, then it's off out for more drinking and craziness .

So some of the fires were still burning for the tree climbing or el pino as the locals say. The tree was late arriving as is the Mallorcan way and it took an age to get it in position but they eventually got there. I swear the bangers and firecrackers get louder every year, this is not the place to be if you have a weak heart . Last night many bars were closed but the restaurants were packed.
So that's it over for another year, it's been a great weekend and i will leave you with a few pics from yesterday.

The tree climbing in Pollensa as reported in the UH Sergi Gómez conquista la cima del Pi de Pollença » Part Forana » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca
Quote:
Sergi Gómez conquer the summit of Pi de Pollença.
Pollença has lived passionately Saturday a new edition of the festival of Sant Antoni Pi. A crowd has gathered in Vella square where many young people have tried to raise the Pi over twenty feet high. Finally, Sergi Gómez, at 21:05 hores, has managed to reach reach to the top.
As is tradition, the festival of Pi has begun after beneïdes, around noon. At that time, hundreds of people took to walk to the farm Ternelles open to this day, to bring the Pi to the village.
Once in the square Vella, young soaped the Pi to make it more difficult climb. After the battle has begun to try to climb it. Eventually, Gomez has been the winner for the third time.
The Pi Vella will be planted in the square until Ash Wednesday and his wooden swords to be used during the Battle of the Moors and Christians fiestas of the patron were manufactured.
