Fantastic Tapas route last night

Rustic, ivy Garden, c'an Torrens, Bar Rumbo and then Tots listening to the fabulous Guillermo who so kindly allowed my friend to sing along with him for a couple of tunes ..... She has a great voice and it made for a special evening.

Thanks also to a couple of forum pals who took the time to call and see us to say hasta Luego

Food offering at each of the above was fantastic.

I can vouch for the voice - just beautiful! Glad we could struggle in to see you all for a short while, sorry we were so exhausted we couldn't stay longer this time! Would have let you know by wifi, but you know how it is!!

Rustic Cafe did a lovely fruit pie on their route last night, we seemed to work backwards from dessert to savoury - who cares!

How do these bars actually know you are "doing" the tapas route.
Do you have to tell them, is there a special price that they should adhere to , surely if you don`t state it then you can be charged something else.
Just wondering, as we never actually found any of the bars last year.
Can`t say I`ll be buying a T shirt though .

All the bars have a fairly big sign to say they are on the Tapas Route, you just tell them when ordering. The price is 1.50€ for a tapas and small wine/beer or water, some will let you have a soft drink .

PS, they haven't done the T-shirts.

We usually mention "ruta de tapeo" before ordering the drinks - in some bars they will then just bring you the drink and tapa but in others you will get to choose from a selection of tapas. Most stick to the €1.50 price the only bar we found that didn't was La Roda who charged €2 which was only fair as it was really too big to be considered a normal tapa

I think its_cd mentioned ivy garden also charged more in her recent trip report.

I think La Roda have some tapas for 1.50€ and some for 2€ it depends on what you want but they do tell you when you order.

Tried the Ruta del Tapeo two Thursday's ago and found a mixture of quality in the six places we tried.
Taps was first and was nice but a little basic followed byTots which was evenmore basic and was likened to something from a seventies buffet with a few bits shoved on a cocktail stick. Also found the service a little unfriendly .
Next onto Sushi Pascalino which was different but nice followed byIvy Garden which provided great service and a lovely snack.
Next onto Music Bar which was very friendly and very nice followed by the fiinal visit to La Bodeguita which had a great local atmosphere and goof tapas.
All in all, agood experience and hope to try again inSeptember.

I have been asked by the organiser of La Ruta to clarify that Can Tofol and Can Torrens are no longer officially part of the tapas route.

Got to say, I was really impressed with the Ruta last night. More than anything else I found it a great way of going to bars I had never even heard of, let alone been to before. I found there to be a good variety in both beers served from bar to bar (I'm a big Estrella Galicia fan!) and the quality of the tapas served for the price. I was half expecting there to be a big tourist/ex-pat contingent on the Ruta but it appeared that there were plenty of locals getting involved too.

The tapas culture is something I'm a big fan of and until yesterday and guided by the Ruta map was something I'd never really managed to fully appreciate in Pollensa.
