I've not been going to Pollensa for quite as long as you Barnie, but my vote for the best restaurant in Pollensa square is Cafe l'illy, next door to Numero Ocho.

I have eaten regularly in both, and despite l'illy not looking quite so good (in-fact it lacks the "kerb appeal" of Ocho), I have found the food to be even better. The quality of the cooking, ingredients and the portion size is very good.

If l'illy had the presentation of Ocho, it would be much busier. For too long we would have a drink there after eating elsewhere, and only when we couldn't get a table where we had intended, did we give it a try.

If you like Ocho Barnie, perhaps try popping next door?

One of the restaurants in Pollensa old town which does not appear to be mentioned much is La Posada di Ariant.
On our first evening having walked around the town to assess where to go as it is 3 years since we were here we settled for a meal at La Posada di Ariant and were well pleased with our choice - we just went for the menu del dia at 14 euros - the food was delicious the service was very good and the location next to the square was great - will certainly go back later in the week.

Some revision needed to my previous post.
We had intended to go to Es Celler de Moli tonight but it was shut - don't know whether that is just on Wednesday evenings so we returned to La Posada D ' Ariant and were most disappointed - the food was average as was the service so we won't be going back.
