Oops. We were blissfully unaware of this at easter and rode our bikes right along by Simbads and Burger King etc to Paris.

Sorry guys

I think that where there are no cycle lanes it is allowed to ride on the pavements as long as you are only riding at the walking pace of the pedestrians .

1919 roundabout?? Surely, following the widespread concern about the ice cream huts possible demise, the roundabout should be referred to as the 'ice cream' roundabout? This would be a token of peoples support for the Valls.

Going even more off topic.....it occurs that an icecream cone sculpture would be fitting centre piece for the said roundabout.

Just blue sky thinking

Nice pic on the webcam just now, 3 abreast going the wrong way, confusing for those 2 people wanting to use the crossing.

I have been told by impeccable sources that a metal sculpture will be ordered, when the money is available, to be put on it.

Definitely not a cone though. Something more nautical.

Can't wait! I'm sure your 'impeccable sources' will produce a beautiful metal sculpture but hopefully wastebins will be ordered first

Question Cycling

Just looked at "SEEM ......" Webcam, and I notice that there are 4 or 5 cyclists going in the opposite direction from the cars ..... is this how it is meant to be??? I'm confused now!!

The cycle lane is to be bi-directional, so in answer to your question, yes cyclists will be able to go both ways but only in the cycle lane!

Until it is re-tarmaced, I don´t think many cyclists will be using it.

Agree. If the tarmac is not good, cyclists on road bikes won't use the cycle lane because of risk of punctures. Also the kind of pro-cyclists we see in PP probably won't use the cycle lane because they travel much faster than other cyclists, so the two types don`t mix so well. A lot will depend on how busy the cycle lane is.

Default Decisions decisions

Just had a letter from our financial adviser - a good chap who ensures we can get away to PP a couple of times a year.

He is seeking donations to sponsor him for an excellent charity.
No problem with that, I hear you say.....

But the event is a sponsored cycling challenge with up to 120 riders completing three days of serious biking based on Pollensa at the end of June.

1) Should I support this worthy cause. Our savings are in his hands.
2) Should I take a principled stand and say no more pelotons racing round mountain roads.
3) Should I say nothing and not donate?
4) Should I spectate at the top of Sa Calobra on the final day and confirm this is not my idea of a pastime or a holiday?

Before anyone gets excited, this is a tongue in cheek post..... personally, as long as cyclists don't ride in busy pedestrian areas and both drivers and cyclists proceed in a courteous manner to each other, then that's good.

So now we have a dedicated cycle track, but it is unlikely that anyone will use?

Sometimes I feel that I am reading a script for a comedy of errors! Any moment surely Derek Nimmo is going to appear dressed as a vicar (just as I have my trousers around my ankles!)

Our local New Forest council spent a lot of money on a cycle track at the side of a main road but cyclists didnt like the surface so didnt use it so the council resurfaced it and it still isnt used and the cyclists use the main road !

They could have spent money on someof the village pavements instead !
