What...both sides are now red? Are there arrows too?

I did the cycle a couple of times, using both sides of the road as I didn't want to cycle against the arrows, but on my return encountered a few cyclists riding the opposite way to the arrows. I gestured to one local that perhaps he should be on the other side, but he immediately said no, no , no.....as if he was sure he was in the right.

So, no idea what the rules actually are!

When in doubt and when on the continent, ride on the right handside of the road

No it is only the lane on the sea side that is painted red unless it has changed this morning.
