Default Walking to Pollensa on PMV2201

We have rented a villa about 2 km out of Pollensa on the Pollensa to Alcudia road (PMV 2201). From google there does not seem to be any pavements - can we walk along the roadside or are their country paths that would be safer?

Welcome to the forum

You could walk but it gets narrow with a wall alongside it near Pollensa, best to drive and in the dark it would be a very risky walk for sure.

Locals often wear high visibility vests when walking or cycling along these small roads.

There are no country path shorcuts to pollensa from along the road you mention.

Many of the cars will be driven by tourists that are sat on the 'wrong' side and cant judge where front corner of the car is so I would not really recommend it.

Hopefully you will have a hire car if staying along the counrty lanes, which is a lovely area to rent a property.

I would agree with what Mark has said, we stayed along that road a few years ago, and although we walked a couple of times in the day light, we always got a taxi back, it is very narrow and unlit, like a lot of the roads, and as Mark said its mostly tourist traffic so drivers do not know the road well.
Hope you have a great time, lovely area to stay around there, more rustic and peaceful than other areas.

Many thanks for the responses, seems that car would be the safer option. We have now hired a car and are looking forward to exploring the area.

You're welcome

A car will be essential for supermarket shopping if 2km along that road.

As SWS says it a great location with lots of good rental properties just off the road.

There are some narrow lanes and tracks to go for walks.
have a look at this google maps link and see if you can find where you are staying.
pollensa - Google Maps

If not far from cami de can porquer and Cami de marina etc you can do a decent circular walk along various tracks and see lots of nice countryside and properties.

If you prefer a traditional map to carry with you then try ISBN 9781904946502. This map shows the lanes around the old town quite clearly and it identifies some of the traditional properties available for rent, the ones which were originally farms? I love a good map as much as I love Google Earth.
I bought this map to accompany the walking book and was pleasantly surprised by the detail. It's not perfect though as so much as some lanes I know around Marina are not on the map and some lanes shown (around can puig) have been made private.
I run on the2201 and 2202 on most holidays but I must admit I run early mornings when traffic is light and turn iPod off!
