Default The SYP

The big SYP supermarket on the main road between Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa has moved.

It is now in front of the Balaixa and it's carpark actually backs onto the garden of the Balaixa's restaurant (I will do a separate posting about my trip to the Balaixa).

It's a much better supermarket than the old one. Almost as good as the Caprabo. Great wine and fab chocolate selection.

ps. sorry if this is 'old news'.

I'm amazed!:eek

When did this happen?

SYP has always been a favourite place to shop as the villas we have rented have never been far away. The "old" one was very small but had a certain charm and it was often our first port of call after arriving to stock up on the essentials (wine and beer).8)

We went to Caprabo once this year on a hot afternoon and the queues were horrendous! A bit like Tesco's on a Saturday morning and I can do without that on holiday, thank you very much!

The best supermarket we found this year was a large Mercadona in Alcudia. Very good value with underground parking and a great wine section.

We agree wholeheartedly about Mercadona in Alcudia. Great choice and good prices. They also have a store in Ca'n Picafort which is bigger than Alcudia's.
Over the years we've found Hiper Centro in the Port to be the best value. This is bourn out by the fact that it is used by many locals and ex-pats alike. It isn't large, but the selection is adequate. It's to be found in Calle Vincenc Buades.
Worth a visit.Excellent bakery. Good quality fruit and veg if you've missed the market. Great meat and fish.

Hi Sandy,
See your inbox too!
Everyone else, The Muller is opposite Alcudia old town near the traffic lights. Its very similar to Boots but not as good! (And it's German!)
