The point is Molt, people like me,of the older generation (born 1948) consider that many aspects of commercial capitalisation that force out individualism is not always the best way.Hence some people lamenting P.Pollencas loss of character and the "charm" we have always held dear!
But life goes on!!

In the meantime, you can still taste their wares at their new emporium, not more than 20 yards from where the kiosk is ( was ?).
The definition of Emporium is a large retail store, especially one selling a great variety of articles.

I don't think that can apply to an ice cream parlour .

Well you know what I mean

As far as ice cream parlours go it could reasonably be classified as an iceporium.

That´s not very old. That´s approaching retirement age, when, according to the experts, life starts to begin.

And be grateful you weren´t born in 1919 or you´d be blamed for the kiosk´s demise.

Many would say that individualism actually foments commercial capitalism and not the other way around.

They are now industrial ( good on em ) ice cream manufacturers, churning it out in their factory on the Pollensa Industrial estate enabling them to sell their produce in most bars and supermarkets in the north of the island.

PD I have N0 relationship at all with Grupo Boulevard or any of their 118 outlets.
You can't buy Valls ice cream in Port Alcudia or Alcudia. If you could I would be the first in the queue

Kinda bemused by this whole thing.

If the lease has ran out (sometime ago I believe) and there has to be a tender process surely it is in everyones best interests that the best tender wins regardless of who it is?

Do I like Valls ice cream? yep, buy as Molt rightly says they have a shop 20 yards away where I can still get it.

Valls, whilst provising a service to the local area have and are I'm sure doing very well out of the kiosk. If they want the tender I'm sure they are aware of the figures required to continue in their present lcation.

Question is: Is the present location up for graps or will it be a similar one nearby ?

Valls kiosk in Puerto Pollensa to be removed » Balearics » News » Majorca Daily Bulletin

Quote:
...
Pollensa town hall has taken possession of the Gelats Valls ice-cream kiosk in Puerto Pollensa, which closed at the end of October. It has been inspected by town hall representatives and the police, and the process now starts to remove the kiosk.

...

There is some surprise that the kiosk is to be dismantled, as it had been understood there was to be a tender for it in the current location.

They could always use the wood from it for one of those bonfire things they have in mid January. They usually have a bonfire in that area!!!

As me and my family have been going to PP for about 30 years now, it is really very sad that this ICON will be no more!! I wish them all the best in their new outlet!!

We've been buying our ice cream from the kiosk for 30 years as well and somehow the parlour isn't quite the same. Added to that I think a lot of newcomers won't even know it's there as it's not in such a prominent position. The end of an era and very sad
