And that is why the 2008 attempt was such a farce lollipop, they just don't have the service roads to supply the businesses. Also it was opposed by the local taxi drivers who rely heavily on fares to and from the restaurants, it would make it difficult for them to drop off and pick up and from their clients point of view, they don't want to have to walk too far especially in bad weather.

Cocao - I agree totally with you about Alcudia - the port used to be a thriving, vibrant area with restaurants yards from the hubub of the fishing boats - now it is a souless open area that few people seem to use with a vast distance between the restaurants and the harbour.

I fear PP will go the same way - and I make no apologies to those who say that pedestrianisation can only be good - it is the death of anywhere with any character - just look at beadnuts photos and feel the character:mad:

Leave well alone! The cars and the bustle is part of daily life.

With regret, I don't think any of our opinions matter to those that be.
I'm sure they have their own situation well and truly sorted!
What we have to say is to them, quite incidental, i'm sure.

You could well be right Eleanor, however if the local business people and residents are against it the council may have to listen, as the recent protest showed.
Re- pedestrianisation I personally think things are fine as they are now that the heavy transport is using the by-pass.

I agree Sparky but when big money is involved and deals done it is big money which talks the loudest. I would like to think that the Council would listen and take notice. Certainly I would hate to think of PP changing for the worst. Having seen the beautiful photographs posted here recently, it would be awful to think that any development of any sort isn't thought out and discussed appropriately. I just don't think this often happens regrettably. I suppose we will have to wait to see but hope that local business and residents do have an opportunity of at least having their say. Either positive or negative.
