Smile Prepaid Travel Card

Has anyone every used one of the prepaid travel cards instead of using their own bank card to withdraw money from the ATMs. If so, are the charges still the same as using your own bank card, do you get a good rate when using them. Any information would be appreciated.

Only four more weeks to go until we are in lovely PP.

This is a well debated topic on this site if you look.

In a nutshel go to Moneysavingexpert.com for advice.

Yes i used the Post Office card for the last 2 years and find it works well also the only charge you get is 2 euros when you withdraw cash so i do that once a day also you can pay for meals etc with it. This works well for us and although you can have a nationwide account it was easier to open the post office card. Also you get a better rate when you change money.

Yeah I had a nationwide account too but then they increased their charges for withdrawing money abroad. So when i was traveling i used my cashcardplus prepaid card for the entire trip. I normally topped it up online every couple of weeks and that way I didn't have to take a credit card with all my money on it, which might've got lost or stolen. If you're going traveling for a considerable amount of time then i'd definitely recommend it.

We load everything onto the MyTravel card before we go! Good e/rate, use it everywhere in the port, plenty of ATM's, no charges when lifting money and 1% cash back on everything.
