Curlytom,

Thank God for Globespan. A few hours on the flying tube and you're there. Just look at the regular service by BA and BMI from Glasgow or Edinburgh to Palma. Cost prohibitive, and, 8 - 11 hours journey time with two stops.

CD,

Absolutely spot on and a great post. This year BLT and I had to postpone our trip to the start of the kiddies holiday's and despite having been visiting for 18 years, we have never been at the height of the season. Expecting, from some of the posts last year, that we would be subjected to extreme acts of bingedrinking and that gross behaviour would be the order of the day and evident everywhere.

Nothing could be further from the truth and although it was extremely busy (Cueing for restaurants/ bars packed outside) it was pleasing to see so many decent folks just having a really good holiday with the kids and importantly, respecting the enjoyment of others .

You're absolutely right in your synopsis in my opinion

I've been to PP at all times of the year and what always amazes me is how quiet the square can be in the afternoons, even at height of season. Unless I'm on the beach, or wanting to eat at 7.30 pm, I never feel its crowded. Or am I just in my own little world ? :eek

I've also notice how quiet the square can be in the middle of the day, even in high season. We were there 20-24 July (to buy our apartment...Whoopee!!) and it was like e ghost town with hardlt a soul about and the white bunting fluttering in the breeze. Certainly livened up by 7.00 in the evening, though.
