Default It's been too long...

I've spent a couple of days re-reading old forum posts and having a real bout of nostalgia - it's amazing to think I've been a member of this forum for ten years now, and once upon a time I was really active (!) and had an awful lot to say! Delighted to see that I'm still a Super Mod on here! I hope I can make up for my years in the wilderness!

Anyway, the point of my post is that we are thinking seriously of returning to PP next year, probably in July/August as we still have one at school. I'm hoping to finally meet the great Sparky and have a long overdue glass of Vino!

Whilst reading about all the lovely restaurants we used to visit (1996 was the year we first came to PP) I'm wondering how many are still open? I'm thinking L'Aup which was a firm favourite and Ca'n Costa in Pollensa? I know Balaixa has long gone and that Cala San Vicente is very quiet now, which is a shame as we have so many great memories of staying there one year when our daughter was 2 (she's now 18).

I'm looking forward to catching up with all the new places open and reading more recent reviews!

Oh Jane i can't tell you how good it was to read your post, you really have been away for far too long, both in PP and the forum .

Really looking forward to that glass of vino.....or 2 .

It's lovely being accepted back into the fold!

Yes, I have a feeling we will see some changes - what's this I hear about the old SYP supermarket changing into a Chinese emporium? I used to love to do our big arrival shop there!

I know!! It was a shame, and the alternative is not as good. Never yet found somewhere that does those great bbq kebabs you could get there!

How very nice to have you back Jane. It's been quite a while since we first spotted each other at the airport!

I'll really look forward to your reviews next year! There have been some changes and some of your old favourites from the old town have gone or changed hands BUT I think we now have a lot more special places in the Port so I do hope you get to try those too. And of course you have to get out on the Tapas Route too - I'm just waiting for the July list.

We now have a printed (& downloadable) map of our featured restaurants in the port - see Restaurants, Cafes, Bars in Puerto Pollensa (Port de Pollenca), Majorca Mallorca and the Summer 2014 edition is about to be distributed. I'll upload it as soon as I get it from our designer.

And do start posting again to Wine and More Wine - Pollensa Forum I'm sure you're still a connoisseur.

I will certainly make use of that map - in a way it feels like I'll be visiting for the first time again. We last visited in 2008 so a very long time ago and there's bound to have been changes. However, in the time we've been away we have never encountered the quality of restaurants we found in PP and the old town. Nowhere else can compete.

We're all very much looking forward to coming back and eating in places, old and new! And of course, writing about them!
