Default dodgy tradesmen

Mentioned earlier in the year that we were having some work done in our kitchen.
Tradesman quoted "about a days work" at 30 euros an hour, we gave go ahead and work was eventually done, after several phone calls from this end and job is more or less okay.
Went over last week and received bill for 20hours, almost triple what had been expected
Havent paid in full, as our man was in England, will no doubt get into some debate when we go back over in July.
This is the second time we have be duped and sadly by English tradesmen.
With the benefit of hindsight, in future i will always ask for a written estimate and suggest anyone in similar postition should do the same.

dear smiddy,
have read alot recently about the brits ripping of the brits here in majorca and think its such a shame.
my husband and some of his co workers are all good tradesmen and do a good job. they give decent quotes, do the work well and tidy up when they are finished. they are reliable and helpful.
as usual it only takes one or two dodgy chaaracters to make it difficult for the hardworking english folks over here to earn a decent living.
if you need any plumbing, elec or building work in future i know i can recommend so good men.

regards julesy

Default Re Dodgy Tradesmen

I've managed to get hold of a really good builder. He is Mallorcan, but speaks excelent English. He made a great job of re modelling my bathroom, and is as we speak ( I hope), doing my kitchen.
I can let you have his contact details if you like.
