Default Mortgages

Please can anyone tell me where they applied for their mortgage for their spanish property . We only need a small mortgage but are finding it extremely hard to get a british building society to give a mortgage on a spanish property and the ones that advertise that they do when you speak to them they havent a clue where to start . Any advice much appreciated .

In my case BBVA. Also only a small (thankfully!) mortgage. I arranged it initially through their branch on Cannon Street in the City and it was finalised by the PP branch on Carretera Formentor. This was in 2006.

When we had ours some years ago we used Abbey National but you are probably better going to a Spanish bank.

Another option, if feasible for you, is to mortgage your UK house and raise funds that way.

Thank you for your replies we are waiting for BBVA to call us today, Abbey National now Satander will only help you if you have a mortgage with the m in England even though we have accounts with them . Have thought of mortgaging our house but as my husband is 61 they will only give us a repayment mortgage for four years and this is to expensive , my son is coming in with us but as he is freelance there are more obstacles . Seeing someone at lloyds monday see what they say , but thank you all for your advice

Hi Bevgt, I think you will find the quote about Santander's lending is untrue, speak to Juan the manager of the Santander in Puerto Pollensa, C/ Juan XX111.

Hi again Bevgt, please ignore my comment, I always confuse the two banks Santander and the Sabadell, it is the Sabadell that I refer to and Juan works in the Sabadell bank
in the Juan XX111, if it is only a small mortgage that you require you should get some joy there.
