Completely agree with you Nick, the Miramar is due to open on Sunday April 1st and some of the restaurants along the front will re-open from February 1st, others in mid February. Fingers crossed this year is better than last.

Red face

Good Afternoon All,

First posting for me for this year...... So Happy New Year to you all.....

Re the Miramar, have been in their for a meal a couple of times which was ok... Also have had drinks on their front terrace as well, which as with other places is great for people watching, & for spending a nice relaxing hour or so.... But for some reason, we have never been in there when the main man is working....The smart chap with the glasses, about 5'6" tall, who obviously definately runs the show when he is on duty..... What I have always wondered is.... What is his name?...... Anyone know the answer?.... He absolutely oozes respect, & I'm sure runs a well-oiled machine....

Cheers....

I think that it is Marc Monzonis Quail who you are talking about.

The Miramar is just the best place to sit and people watch - When I am sitting at one of their tables, I really know that I am on holiday!

One request for this season - I think that it is probably finally time to replace the 1970's style "pint-pots" and the funny little metal tea-pots that nine-times-out-of-ten spill everywhere when you pour from them!

Other than that, it is paradise...

Marc is the receptionist so I do not think that is who you are thinking about.. are you asking who it is that runs the restaurant. That is Miguel, who has glasses and obviously likes his food.

And for the last few years beer has only been 3 euros a pint.

That is very good - Perhaps I should forgive them for the 1970's beer mugs if the prices are going back in time too!

Actually, (and to go slightly off-topic) I have to say that by often choosing the MDD, the average cost of our eating-out in PP has fallen dramatically. Times are tight for many people, but there are certainly some very tempting deals to be had. The fearsome peak of restaurant prices that we saw around 2009 are now history.

Nonetheless, whatever money we take with us, by half-way through our stay it has always run-out!

Cool

Thanks for the replies Guys...

From the description, I reckon you are spot on JMD40, so thank you for enlightening me... Don't know why, but every time I see Miguel at work on the terrace of the Miramar, I imagine Vinny Jones ordering a beer at the table, then after being served, he complains about it not being cold enough.... He is put straight in no uncertain terms by Miguel, & doesn't come out to well after it......

Funny what you think about after being out in the sun too much.....

Cheers......

Thumbs up

Hahahaha, maybe you should not leave it so long between your drinks, the sun does funny things to a persons brain so you must drink very frequently.
Look forward to seeing you sat there this summer.... hopefully prices will not have gone up too much this year either. I think the Set evening Menu is rising from 18€ per head to 22€ per head but that still provides excellent value in an excellent setting and of course served by Miguel and his team.
