Default Turtles

I don't know if I had rather too much wine last night but during my morning stroll, I stopped at the bridge by La Gola and I am sure I saw turtles swimming into the lake.

My wife is not convinced - was I seeing things?

Quite possible... I have taken photos of turtles in the Torrent de Sant Jordi at the bridge at the junction of Cami de Llenaire and Camí de Ca'na Volantina, near the Hotel de Llenaire.

Also at the Albufera wetlands.

Look more like terrapins to me. Notice they have claws not flippers. Many lakes in U.K. now have them where people have released pets!
Be careful, they can bite and harbour salmonella.
Keep safe from these as well.

Thanks, can you identify the snake?

Looks like a grass snake but beware it could be an adder. Not sure if any info re. indigenous species in Flora and Fauna section of web-site.
