John Lynam
Just by chance we wandered into the Hotel Panarama last night, there was a guitarist playing in their garden, he was brilliant, I found out a little later that it was John Lynham.
I have read several posts on here re John but didn't know anything more about him. He seems to be able to play anything and his guitar playing is superb, we stayed till the end (1200pm), a really enjoyable evening, which I would thoroughly recommend.
He is a very accomplished musician and would like to know his history if anybody knows?

Might be of interest - there's an article I wrote about John Lynam in the latest issue of "Talk Of The North".

Hi there, thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the music..I started back in the 70's with my own band Sundance. We recorded 2 Albums that were released worldwide and I wrote the song "Coming Down" which entered the UK Top 40. I later worked with many different artists as a session player and "guitar for hire ! " Me and my wife Mel moved to Mallorca 5 years ago and I gig around the Port at The Hideaway in Gotmar, Hostal Paris, Mulligans and The Panorama you mentioned above...The Talk of The North has all the info. on what's going on and who is playing where..Look forward to seeing you again in our lovely Port. All the best, John.

Wow John, when I started the thread earlier in the year after spending a very enjoyable evening listening to your music, I didn't expect to get a reply from the man himself. Good to know you have several venues and will definitely catch up with you again soon, hopefully. Keep up the good work.

cheers - saw some good acts @ barbarellas - 10Cc, Can & Rufus spring to mind, reckon I must have seen Sundance in early 70s in Brum - did you play Birmingham Uni 75/75? was social sec there, a round orange logo comes to mind......
not sure if in PP this year yet - prices are astronomic, shame, at it's been 9 years on the trot, but if we are, will certainly make contact, & hopefully watch you play...must dash, off to band practice to show off my new tele....

Left Aston Uni in '74. I'm told that the accommodation block that I first stayed in during '71 - Lawrence Tower - is due to be demolished next month as it has reached the end of its useful life. That's rather scary as we were the first residents in there.
Some 37 years later and I'm still living in the Birmingham area.
Certainly remember Bogarts and Barbarellas.
Sadly, I also remember the Tavern in the Town, which was one of the pubs destroyed in the IRA attacks.
Hoping to be out in PP during July, so will try and get to one of John's concerts.
