Old mollies (new La Celtika)

Does anyone know what is opening up in the location where mollies used to be we were out in March and noticed workmen inside wondered if it was reopening as something cafe or shop. Thanks

Yes I know! It is a new cafe/restaurant called La Celtika with a Breton/Mallorcan theme as it is run by Yann who is from Brittany. When I walked past they had boards up for various pancakes - mmmm!

I think they also helped out with some of the Tapas at Taps (opposite) on the Tapas Route night.

Hopefully, we'll have more news on this new place soon.

We popped in to La Celtika last night to meet Yann & his wife - he is from Brittany & she is from Galicia so as well as Crepes & Galettes (sweet & savoury pancakes), they offer tapas like food from both places. We didn't have time to sample any this time but it looks as if La Celtika will be another welcome addition to the Port.

They are open every day 10:30 - 16.00 & 18:30 - 23:00.

Well we couldn't resist the pancakes and went in last night. We'd already had a pretty filling MDD in El Posito so we weren't looking for a 3 course meal & La Celtika was just right.

As aperitifs we chose 'Kir Breton' - Cassis with cider instead of wine. It was lovely so we went for their dry cider (French of course!) to go with our meals. We had a 'Landaise' salad (mixed salad with tomato, potato, bacon, magret of duck) and a Galette Bergere (buckwheat pancake with goat's cheese, mushroom, onion, bacon, creme fraiche, chives). We were offered sweet pancakes as desert but had no room - but next time ! They have a really good selection of teas and their version of hierbas was different again.

Other customers were mainly locals and one had a large plate of oysters, others had tapas or pancakes. There are only about 6 tables inside but now that the weather has sorted itself out, there's plenty of seating outside!

my name is Yann and i run "La Celtika"
As said before i'm french, from brittany, so please excuse my unperfect english.
I just want to complete the informations given before about the restaurant.
I offer speciality from French Brittany like crêpes and galettes (crêpes made whith buckwheat flour), homemade foie-gras, oysters... and also from Galicia, where my wife is from and were i lived for 8 years, like scallops and prawns or chorizitos whith cider....
i have selection of french-spanish-mallorca wine, cider from brittany, licors from Galicia..
Everything is homemade, and i work with fresh products.

This Thursday 09/05/2013 i'll organize at 21:00 a queimada' event: it's something emblematic of Galicia, orujo blanco burnt with more ingredients serve in shots for 1,5€ with a little pinchito.

I was a bit lost on what a 'queimada' is but Wikipedia has come to the rescue:

"Queimada is an alcoholic beverage of Galician tradition.

Queimada is a punch made from Galician augardente (Orujo Gallego) - a spirit distilled from wine and flavoured with special herbs or coffee, plus sugar, lemon peel, coffee beans and cinnamon.

Typically, while preparing the punch a spell or incantation is recited , so that special powers are conferred to the queimada and those drinking it. Then the queimada is set alight, and slowly burns as more brandy is added." - see Queimada (drink) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sounds lovely - I do hope you'll still be doing this when I return in July.

Agree it's great to have something totally different - but having said that, Mollies was just great for breakfast and will be missed- by us anyway
