Only just read your challenge. To be honest it presesnts quite a challenge and with all different tastes, depth of pockets and qualifications to answer some of the points,I'm a bit daunted! >D

Los Zarzales ….. in the garden. Lovelly food, relaxed atmosphere, table is yours for the night so sit back, enjoy being with your family and savour the special time, food and company

3) Push the boat out and have a very special meal
C’an Costa ….. it has it all

4) Enjoy relaxed eating with several under 5's

Trio or Tango ( I know I am cheating here but they are connected and it’s my challenge so I am allowed ) Both places will serve you quickly if that is what you need or allow you to take your time if preferred and will make such a fuss of the children ……… both also do good value kids meals with real food options


5) Grab a bite to eat after Wednesday's Market

It just has to be the Joker Bar, great spot to watch the world go by, and no one can deny you see some sights on Market day ! Great value, friendly service, good, simple food.

6) Have Sunday Brunch after the Market in Pollensa

In the garden at Trencadora but only after a drink at Bar Espanol to soak up the atmosphere

7) Have the best value dinner

O Lume – set meal for 20 Euros …….. excellent standard and presentation

8) Have the best value lunch

El Posito

9) Enjoy the best entertainment whilst eating ( remember entertainment comes in many guises )

C’an Ferra ( aka Little People ) …… you will have to go to see what I mean about entertainment , but believe me it is worth it , as is the food. Go for the fish , or book a day early and order the Lamb
This place could easily have won best value as well …. But then where would I have put O Lume ……

La Fortalesa …… just so you go home with a lingering taste of Majorca

...... and dont talk to me about jazz at Son Brull! Booked a weekend purely - almost - for that, just to be told they had stopped doing it!!!

That's a real pity about the jazz at Son Brull.And how annoying to have a weekend spoiled.

When we went last year it was absolutely magnificent....and full.

OK cd...here are my choices for the challenge.

1 - Romantic Meal for 2...

Trencadora in Pollensa old town. Beautiful outdoor surroundings, delicious food and friendly service.

2 - Great Family Meal...

Tango in PP or Ca N'Olesa in Pollensa old town. Tango is great with children and Ca N'Olesa is near enough to the square to enable the children to run and around and have fun.

3 - Push the boat out for a special meal...

My choice would be Ca'n Costa.

4 - Enjoy relaxed eating with several under 5's...

Hmmmm...now this is difficult. I have to agree with graham on this one. I can visualise a bit of stress, but I would go with La Piazza - the pizza restaurant on the square in PP. Again, the children could let off steam in the square while the adults sit back and relax.

5 - Bite to eat after Wednesday market...

I would stroll along to the terrace of the Hotel Ses Pins for a snack and wonderful views over the bay. We had lunch here a couple of years ago and it was delicious. With a cold beer in your hand (or Sangria) what else would you want?

6 - Sunday Brunch in Pollensa...

This was a difficult one. I think I would just have a pastry and large coffee at the Bar Espanyol while I watch the people coming and going in the market. Or maybe stroll along to the little square at the bottom of the Calvari steps and pick one of the many bars for a sandwich.

7 - Best Value dinner...

In my opinion it would be El Posito. We had the lamb here a couple of years ago (at lunchtime) and didn't eat again until 10pm at night!

8 - Best Value lunch...

I would go to the Restaurant Llenaire. Again, great views over the bay, friendly service and lovely food. The breakfasts here are good, too!

9 - Best entertainment whilst eating...

I would go for Maxim's here - my entertainment being people watching which keeps me occupied for hours.

10 - Last night meal...

I would go to Ca'n Pacienci - the food is great, service is friendly and sitting outside in the warm night air would be a lovely way to say goodbye to the area.

Jane, You seem to have very similar tastes to me and I agree with most of your comments,but nothing could beat an inside table at Trencandora with the love of your life after a wonderful day out in Mallorca.
For families,parties groups etc, outside,peoplewatching at
Il gardino.
What a lovely way to spend a winters afternoon in England,thinking of Pollenca food! mmmm.

Dififcult one these days with a family as we don't get to do it that much - used to be the Ivy Garden, probably now the Stay

2) Have a great family meal
Has to be C'an Ferrar just for the informality and good value and all things Mallorcian

3) Push the boat out and have a very special meal
Back to C'an Ferrar for the Lamb Special - you have to order a day in advance at least

4) Enjoy relaxed eating with several under 5's - Little Italy, if you can get a table, so that the kids can mess about on the beach while you have a coffe and brandy or another bottle of wine - or both!!

5) Grab a bite to eat after Wednesday's Market
Probably head inland to some like Santa Maria and grab a late lunch there.

6) Have Sunday Brunch after the Market in Pollensa
Two ways to go here - firstly up into the mountains to Es Guix for a more formal affair (book in advance) and enjoy the fresh water rock pool after, or down to Aries at Gommar apartments for a Pepito de Lomo - fillet of pork with garlic mayonnaise and tomato in a bara (french stick)

7) Have the best value dinner
Back to C'an Ferrar (get the impression we like it!)

8) Have the best value lunch
Picnic at Formentor!

9) Enjoy the best entertainment whilst eating ( remember entertainment comes in many guises )
On the terrace having a b-b-q

10) Have your last night meal
Any of the above!

11)Manduca - the best pizza in the port and starters to die for. Cous-cous and stir fries, curry and all. only down side is the service gets slow in the high season, but we love it as do all the locals.

Wherever you go, if it is good, go again - if it is'nt go somewhere else and hopefully in the end they will all become good!!
