I tried Tex Mex didn't like it, but lots do. Are you saying you would prefer to see places boarded up. The port has to move on, like it or loathe it, if it doesn't it will die. I would love to see more Mallorquin restaurants open up but a lot of the original ones sold out many years ago, so the chances of them moving back are pretty remote.

Hiya Cocoa07,

I like coming to PP, for PP and Mulligans has never been my thang... but it also supported local musicians... nothing to do with faux irish. Band members were international and of a high standard. So as a venue, it is a another place possible lost, to hear accomplished musicians.
Anyone remember the days when u would go into a wee bar and hear good acoustic music ?

Miriam

You can always contact one of the agents - even if they are not advertising it - see

Sparky,

If the Port has to move on by the continual subliminal erosion of local culture
at the expense of so called British Culture I, like many residents, will be happy to be out on the streets with me nails and hammer. If the survival of this lovely place depends on two weeks of Guiness and Benny Hill, then gawd help us. Hopefully the market has now been oversaturated by British bars and replicas of " life like at home ".

Lets hope so.

As i said Bonyslad, i want to see more Mallorcan bars and restaurants I came here to get away from the British way of life but that doesn't mean i have to completely avoid all of the British bars. Sometimes it's nice to pop in for a drink and catch up with friends. Don't you do that sometimes?.
BTW the Irish bars and Tex Mex are all owned and run by local people.

One thing has always puzzled me,the majority of visitors to the port express a desire to eat local food and sample "authentic bars and restaurants" so why do so many mallorquins open British,Irish,Asian & American themed establishments?

The answer is that the majority don’t just want that, thats why these places are nearly always full, the majority on here agree with you, and so do I, but thats different, we are but a small subsection of the people who go to the Port.

Yes it is strange isn't it, but they seem to be making money . I have been told the only reason Mulligans is up for sale is because the people who own the building have doubled the rent . But as always it's like chinese whispers.

I suggest you email/contact directly if you are interested in purchase. You will save the commission which will be at least 5% hidden in the asking price if you go via an agency. Alot of money to find just for someone to make a phone call to introduce you as a potential purchaser.
If the business is not for sale they will soon tell you so and if it is they will be happy to receive your interest.
Just my opinion.

Thanks for pointing that out Sws, didn't realise that the locals were clever enough as to spot " Tourist Mug " at fifty paces plastered all over their foreheads and might want a piece of the action !!!!

Sparky,

Yeah, I like to sometimes but been banned from most joints for speaking my mind !!!!

Peru,

If Nostalgia is such a great asset to the Port, please describe in words of two syllables what it is ??

Rangers 1, A certain person who lives above Mulligans has been out celebrating for the past week that it,s closing. You tell her that you are keeping it the same. Best of luck!!!
