One of our favourites - makes you wonder just how many will consider it worthwhile opening this year

Pity but they obviously think it wouldn't be worthwhile.
Shame, will miss their breakfasts if we do get out.

As far as I am aware the owners of Sparrow Bar are behind the new restaurant on the old Guru site in Formentor Road.

Is the old Guru now becoming a new restaurant?

I have had a chat with Lorna and she says there is no truth what so ever in this rumour, in fact she is quite angry that people make these things up especially when times are so stressful for business owners .

Guru was being renovated but work has stopped, i have no idea what will happen to it in the future.

I hate to disagree with you (again) but my apartment is directly above Guru and I can assure you that renovations are continuing. They plan to open in two weeks and I know of at least one local chef who has a contract to start then.

I have akways tried to give honest opinions and information on this forum and I am rather baffled as to why you have taken this attitude towards me.

My husband went by a couple of times and saw nothing going on, which is what i said. I am glad the work is continuing on Guru and wish the new owners well.

However my main point was that you had stated the owners of Sparrow Bar had taken it over and this is not true, someone had told them about your post on here and they have now posted an angry denial on FB.

I respectfully ask all members not to post things unless they have all the facts.

Humble pie time ..... my apologies Sparky. I think my brain must have been disengaged (don't know if its the effects of lockdown or the weather) but quite why I said Sparrow Bar is still a mystery to me. Would you also pass on my apologies to the owner for any embarrassment caused.

Apology accepted.

It took me quite a bit of time yesterday to sort this out, i had not realised they had already posted a complaint on FB, so after putting the record straight on here as well as privately apologising to them, i then had to post a retraction and apology on FB because the rumour had been started on this forum. This is why i ask people not to post gossip and rumour on here, it is harmful to the businesses and also the forum.

Had a long chat with them this afternoon and all is well. They are waiting to see how visitor numbers are before reopening. If it stays quiet they may not open until next year.

Was watching the 10pm kick off match in Geminis 18 tonight, Rafa from Batucada was there as he is a Zaragoza fan. He told me that the bar is open and although he will retire in August he has someone to manage it for him .

Can’t believe Rafa is retiring! I known him since he ran Aniara with his brother Miguel...one of the coolest bars in town. He’s always been the most conjenial host and was an absolute heart throb in the old days! With his long hair tied in a ponytail he would greet you at the bar with a red rose between his teeth

Enjoy the rest Rafa!
