Euro Weekly Survey

An interesting centre spread in the Euro Weekly today. They have carried out a survey of drinks in Cheapest and dearest bars across their publication area. In Mallorca every time the Spanish bars come out cheaper than the English Bars. Made me wonder where people drink when on holiday.

Was reading spmething on Trip Advisor re the Costa Del Sol and there the Spanish Bars are now much cheaper for food and drink than the English Bars

Also where English Bars are closing they are being opened up again by the Spanish Areas where it is very Spanish are flourishing and not so the English areas

For some people they can't do without their typical English food and beer and it seems they are prepared to pay the premium for their imported home comforts!

I honestly don't think this is the case in PP. I would say that the British owned bars prices are pretty much on a par with their Spanish/Mallorquin counterparts .

In defense of some of the British Bar owners its not because they are looking to make bigger profits. In many cases its because the lease payment are high whereas many Bars run by Spanish/ Mallorquin actually own the property or the property is family owned which reduces there overheads dramatically enabling them to reduce prices

Costa del Sol Spain comes out on top, with Australia/New Zealand at the bottom of the list. £36 v £146. Sorry Brisbane

This is a very interesting table. We were in Canada last year and while prices were not cheap I would not have rated it as expensive as the table implies. We have also been to Portugal (rural Portugal not Algarve) and prices there were extremely low. 6.50 euros for a 3 course lunch with wine and bread and less than 2 euros for a good bottle of wine.......how could you beat that

Please guys i don't want this to become a debate about prices around the world, the point of this thread was that the Euroweekly was saying prices in the Spanish bars were cheaper than the English/British bars.

As i have already said i don't think this is so in PP, also all the places i use have for at least the 4th year running not increased their prices .

Must agree with Sparky, regular visitors to PP will have noticed bars/restaurants have not increased prices for years! Can't think of anyone in the UK whose done that. PP is that little bit more expensive than some places, always has been, but theres still plenty of value to be had.

They obviously didn't visit Capuchino or the Il aDor on their survey?

The paper doesn't say where exactly they carried out their survey. This was the EWN opinion not mine.
