I think most of us on here agree that the quality and choice of Mallorcan wines now are very impressive, and personally, I drink them rather than anything else when In PP, (with the exception of the odd bottle of Verdejo from the Rueda region, and Albarino from the Rias Baixas region of the mainland, which I think are Spain's two best white wines).
But at least these great Spanish wines are available in the UK, whereas the Mallorcan wines are not, except in a very few specialist outlets.
As said earlier the Mortix wines are well worth trying, I think they do two Whites, and the Rose is also very good.
Also worth looking out for:
Miquel Oliver Son Calo Blanco and Muscat white wines. The Blanco used to be the House white at
Stay, but I think it has been replaced by The Mortix.
Herederos De Ribas - A very good dry white, again available at Stay, and I think also at
El Posito amongst others.
Jaume Mesquida - The top end , (and priciest) of local wines, I think they offer 3 different whites, the Chardonnay being the one I've seen most on Wine Lists.
Macia Batle is widely available, also their Rose is worth seeking out.
Castell Miquel - one I've yet to try, would be interested in hearing opinions from any of you that have had the pleasure. I understand they're based halfway up a hillside somewhere in the Serra De Tramuntana Mountains, and their flagship white is a sauvignon blanc with the unlikely name "Stairway To Heaven", or perhaps they just love Led Zeppelin.
The Binissalem wines of José L. Ferrer and Macia Batle would seem to be the two most popular local wines that I see on Wine Lists around the Port, and I think that Stay and La
Lonja would appear to offer the most comprehensive choice, although I would like to know of any other restaurants that have a wide selection of local wines.
