Default Spanish Beer

We had a delivery of Cruzcampo in the shop yesterday, which is a lovely refreshing beer from Spain and I thought I would do a little post on this most popular of drinks.

Although I love wine (and whisky) my first drink in PP just has to be a cold glass of beer. There's nothing like it!

Apart from San Miguel, Cruzcampo and Estrella Damm (is that right?) I haven't come across many other beers. Of course, when we're in PP we just ask for a beer and one is brought out to us - we haven't a clue what it is.

So here's a challenge for the Spring and Summer. Let me know your favourite Spanish beers and we'll find out the best by the end of the year.

Tasting notes, names and where you drank them would be great.

I look forward to all your comments - good and bad!

Jane

Ok Jane I'm willing to help you out on the taste test. As a keen beer drinker I'm sure my reviews will be of interest to you. And this will be a great excuse for me drinking even more beer.
So do you need my home address so that you can send the crates to?. Do you expect me to return the empty bottles?.
When do i start?.
Looking forward to this!.
Write soon.

Hi Rob!!

Yes let me know your address and I'll bring some up to you.

What do you prefer? Lager or ale?

And yes please - keep the empty bottles - I use them as candle holders.

Speak soon

Default Beer

Now jane this is what I call service. not only free beer but hand delivered to my door . i take it you ensure that it has been chilled first?. Do you provide a pouring service. Don't worry I have my own glasses. I use the term glasses , some people care to call them Jam jars, but hey their glass !aren't they?.
What a classy woman you are, the empties used as candle sticks, WOW:eek . You should be on the telly, on one of them house makeover shows. I'd never have though of that. I use mine as garden ornaments. I'll soon have my bottle rockery finnished. You can see it when you deliver the crates. It's beautiful when the suns out and it reflects of the glass and the bin bags. For some reason the council want to take it away. I think they want to use it else where. It's also a wildlife sanctuaary......sanc..........sanctarry........san ch
........park with lots of furry animals to watch.
chat soon.

Hi Rob!!!

You had me ROFLMAO when I read your post!!

:rollin

Now let's be serious about this. Tasting beer is a very important business and I do it for a living. (Someone has to I know :rolleyes )

If you are going to muck about with jam jars then I'll find someone else to do my dirty work for me.

And don't involve furry animals either - I'll report you to the RSPCA - or were you referring to your sporran??:eek

Just point me in the right direction and I'll find you,
Jane

Bad news:\ the council lorries arived today. it would appear my neighbours aren't animal lovers. now all furry friends have no where to stay. Would you like to re-home 20 or so of them?. I'll start my re-building plan later today. When is it you plan to deliver these crates? and collect your new pets?

Funnily enough Rob, I am staying in Bamburgh next weekend as it's hubby's birthday. The kids will be with us so I'm sure we can take some of the furry animals off your hands then.

I can deliver the crates of beer at the same time.

Will that be OK?

Not another Trotters???:eek

Any relation to the PP one?

We'll have to go and try the stottie cake for sure.

As for the pets, maybe Sunday would be best - not sure if the hotel will allow us any pets overnight. By the way are they small and furry or large and furry? Will they fit in the back of my car?

And what beer do you want? I can't run to San Miguel I'm afraid.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Oops! Rob! Just had a thought!

We plan to take the children to Alnwick castle on Sunday morning to see where Harry Potter was filmed.

But having said that perhaps we could take the furries with us and leave them there for the next film.

What do you think?:eek

By the way, I have managed to find some Caledonian Brewery Flying Scotsman beer for you. Then if you are delayed going to PP in 4 weeks time you can make your own way there. Will a crate be enough? And I insist you get some proper tasting glasses as jamjars will just not do.

Bye for now

The crate sounds fantastic, but can I have Traquair brewery's House ale instead?:rollin :rollin :rollin

So all joking aside. Who brews the best Spanish beer (lager)? and who sells it in the port and old town?. I prefer draught so which do you prefer? Doesn't that first pint after you step onto the Pine Walk taste the best Mmmmmmmmm It does at the Sis Pins anyway.

Like all pubs in the uk some seem to store and pour a better pint, who rates highest?

I'll do my best to get the Traquair Brewery beer for you, Rob. I must admit you've whetted my appetite for it now.

www.traquair.co.uk

As for our favourite beer in PP I liked Mahou but wasn't a fan of the Estrella Damm!!

And Cruzcampo at just over 1 euro a litre bottle was another favourite.

Please let me know you're findings in - when do you go? I can't remember - how many weeks is it???
Can you remind me?

Jane
