Bah - sorry, I hate Valentine's day!
Shouldn't we show our partners/wives/husbands that we love them every day rather than just on one day of the year when we have to pay over-inflated prices for flowers, cards and pink champagne!!
Sorry Snowy - nothing personal, just a very big bug bear of mine!
I love sitting down with my husband and drinking a glass (or bottle) or Torres De Casta rose wine - on any day, not just valentines!!
It is a wine that always reminds us of the beautiful bay of pollensa and the many happy years that we have spent together!

Snowy!!
Now, come on! How can you disregard New Year's Eve and then Burns Night?
We'll be having a Rose Cava tonight as an aperitif which I picked up in Tesco Calais - it's the Codorniu Reserva 2004 and tasted very fresh and fruity. At the stroke of midnight I'll be opening some champagne, of course.
Now, Burn's Night...my husband tried to get some haggis this morning when he went shopping but it was sold out!:eek But I'll make sure I have some for the 25th January. And to drink? I have a very special bottle of whisky called The Spice Tree made by Compass Box that is now quite rare. My boss at the Wine Shop gave it to me when I left and he told me the other day he sold his last remaining bottle for £150! So I might not drink it, but keep it for my fast approaching 40th in 2008!
I might just toast the poet with a glass of The Balvenie instead!
As for Valentine's Day...I'm with Sara on this one! I hate the sentimental commercial mush of this day and I'll probably ignore it completely!
Have a great New year everyone!

Very funny, jiggy!
OK, I give in - what about drinking Parfait Amour on the day which is a delicious violet liqueur?
Or, making some cocktails?
Between the Sheets Cocktail
2 1/2 cups brandy or cognac
2 1/2 cups triple sec
2 1/2 cups rum
2 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
Combine in a large pitcher and stir: Store in refrigerator until party time. Pour into chilled glasses and sip slowly.
Sex On The Beach
1 part Peach schnapps
1 part Vodka
top up Orange juice
top up Cranberry juice
dash of Lemon juice
5 Ice cubes
1 Orange wedge
Shake the vodka, peach schnapps and lemon juice together with cracked ice. Strain and pour into a highball glass.
Top up with cranberry and orange juice.
Enjoy!

Sorry Jiggy - I am a romantic - but I think that you should be romantic all year - not just on one day!!
We are having a Rose Cava tonight - Campo Viejo, which is £6.49 from Sainsbury's and is lovely!
Hope you all have a great new year!

Jane,
Thank you good lady.
Now, any problems with th HAGGIS -let me know, we grow them up here on the Glenshoogle Estate.
Not too sure about Balvenie...perhaps Glenmorrangie,or even an old Bowmore!
Cheers and a very good new year to you and yours.
Jimbo
p.s it is blowing a hooligan up here at the moment 50-60 m.p.h.
Won't stop us going out tonight though!

wine of love
Well I have just returned from a lovely new year in Scotland with my daughter where we saw the bells in at a town square in the borders. Although we celebrated with champagne, I was served my 'wine of love' during the evening leading up to midnight. Faustino V rioja. Some may say, not that special, well, Robjay remembered thats what I drink at Tango. So who needs valentines,(which I thought was not only European but world wide, ) agree with you Jane and Sara, every day should be special not just Feb 14th.
Cheers Rob
