House wine

Hi , can anyone advise of restaurants that do a decent house red at a reasonable price.
We went to Los Zarzales in the summer and they did a magnificent litre of house red for 12 euros.
Always like to support the local producers too , so any suggestions there would be welcome .
Cheers

La Parra's red, which I think they make themselves, is good. At 5 euros, it is an excellent buy. Abd the restaurant is open in the winter.

Totally agree Marilyn - we didnt know till this year that they have their own vineyard. And it is lovely red wine (they don't do their own white). We went with some friends last month and 2 of us shared a bottle. When we went back as a couple, I asked for a glass but he said you might as well have a bottle as it is nearly the same price! So he re-corked it for us to take away. Then when we went the next time and asked to take the wine away, the cheeky waiter took the bottle over to the barrel and filled it to the top before re-corking:D

Went to La Parra this summer for a fantastic Sunday lunch of suckling pig and we did wash it down with a bottle of the house red , I think it was just the one !
Great price and I didn't know they had there own vineyard.

Indeed it is open in winter and in February believe it or not we still need to book.

Where is La Parra? Out next Friday, would like to take a look

marilyn 07-11-2015 23:11

Going towards Pollensa Town, La Parra is on the right in Calle Juan XXIII just past the junction with Calle Vincent Buades. The doorway is through a huge barrel. I recommend that you book 3 days before you want to go. There is an ad for it on the main site under Eating Out. I hope you enjoy as much as we always do.

mallorcaboy 07-11-2015 23:16

Ah, yes I know it. Now what did it used to be called? (about 9 years ago)

marilyn 07-11-2015 23:34

I think it has always been Celler La Parra. It has been in the same family since the 60s There is another restaurant, Bella Roma, just before you get to it. Are you thinking of that?

Casa Vila's and Marina Brasserie's house red does it for me. It's called Serres and it's just yummy :)

Sparky 08-11-2015 01:03

As Marilyn says it has always been "Celler La Parra" but many people have shortened it to "La Parra".

mallorcaboy 08-11-2015 10:47

That's it. I remember I went with my eldest son many years ago, a male bonding weekend. I say I remember, but it was a very liquid night, so not much remembering actually

I would agree with everyone about Parra's red wine.

Drink it there though. We bought a couple of bottles to bring home (in Mallorca) and it wasn't so nice a few days later
