Default Supermarket Offers

I thought I'd start a separate thread as I just came across this www.wineontheweb.co.uk/winenews/Supermarket_Offers/supermarket_offers.html I don't know how accurate it is but as we all use different supermarkets, Jane, perhaps you could point out any good buys - or do you have to go in, buy & taste...

Thanks

They are also having a "Drink Pink" promotion so get on down there and get some!

Hi jiggy!

Thank you very much for the tips - I am a big fan of the Wolf Blass Cabernet Sauvignon and when we went to France a few months ago, I bought a case of 6 bottles.

I've always wanted to try the President's Selection - just need the occasion!

Keep the tips coming and when I'm on my travels around the supermarkets I'll post on any I find.

Glad you like the wine forum and I'll look forward to chatting again soon!
Jane

Hi Jane
I was in france on a training course about 5 years ago, got matey with our 4 french training instructors, so decided to buy them a thank you present, a bottle of chateauneuf du pape each from the local supermarket (just outside auxerre).
£4 A BOTTLE, what a bargain (bought myself 6 bottles).
they were delighted, never pay more than a couple of francs apparently for a bottle of wine.
We went to the local restaurant and ordered a bottle of house white, it was beautiful, turned out, we were staying in the region of chablis & that is what we got, a lovely bottle of chablis for about £2, good stuff!
Sorry but what was the wine you recommened me in the chatroom, something from tescos, gavondos or something.
chat to you soon
jiggy.

Hi jiggy!

Wow! You did get a bargain with the Chateauneuf du Pape - it's so expensive now - we have a bottle in the shop selling for about £20.

The wine I mentioned was Gigondas from the same region in the Cotes du Rhone. It's a beautiful village and we have happy memories of visiting one very hot summer.

Also try Vacqueyras from nearby - lesser known villages but just as good without the expensive price tag.

I'm sure Tesco's do the Gigondas for about £7-£8 so great for a more special occasion.

I hope you enjoy and chat soon,
Jane

Hi cd !

Yes the Durius is a good one to get at half price I had it a few weeks ago on an offer. Think it was Morrisons.

If it can be got anywhere on an offer, go for it guys!

I am so excited!

Sainsburys have started to stock Torres De Casta rose!

This is one of the finest rose wines there is - £5.49 a bottle.

Noticed in the paper this morning that Sainsbury's have a great offer over the weekend. Think it runs from tomorrow to Sunday. Buy 6 bottles of wine or more (can be mixed) and you get 30% off.

As they sell Torres De Casta - guess where I am going tomorrow!!
