Pere Seda Crianza 2000 - Manacor, Mallorca
 

I opened my one bottle of the Pere Seda tonight whilst having a very enjoyable chat with Rob, Portofan and Pollensa Man.

It seemed the ideal thing to do and dream I was in PP!

I liked this wine very much and would recommend it for all those who enjoy their reds and like Rioja in particular. The grapes used in the wine are Tempranillo (used in Rioja), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah - all my favourites really, in one bottle!

I opened it at 5pm and had a little taste - very oaky but smooth. I tipped the entire bottle into one of my decanters and then left it for an hour to see whether it had changed.

Chatting away to the others, I said it was still quite oaky, but soft, rounded and smooth. The colour was veering towards tawny as it is 5 years old now and would have spent time in oak before being bottled (at least 6 months).

I think (!) I bought it in a shop called "Dover" which is opposite Tango restaurant, but cannot remember the price. However I am sure it wasn't expensive and would hazard a guess at between 6 - 8 euros.

Morgan - ummm! One of the ten Beaujolais "Cru" wines from special villages of the Burgundy region.

Have you tried Moulin A Vent or Julienas - two of my favourites from the same area? Fleurie is also good and these wines are perfect for summer drinking!
