Default Walking to Alcudia old town and Port D'Alcudia

We have always wanted to walk to Alcudia but in mid summer it is too hot, but ideal at this time of the year, it was a gorgeous day and a very pleasant walk, quiet except the occasional traffic. The sea was flat calm and looked stunning against the blue sky.

Half way around there were some fishermen who had nets about 2ft from the shore, looked like they may have been catching octopus, does anyone know if this is right, surely two close for fish, and we saw a guy walking along with one a little further along?

We made it to the old town which was fairly quiet in the center but we headed through to the square on the outskirts and had a lovely long lunch to recover. Then we headed to the port which had a few more restaurants open than Pollensa back it was still quiet. A great walk but we were flagging so we headed back to Pollensa on the bus.

Excellent photo's and great looking weather.

I did the walk into old town Alcudia in June last year. Hot or what !!!

The extra bit into Port Alcudia then would have finished me off but this time of the year maybe not.

Great walk.

More great photos! We walked from PP to Alcudia Old Town in October, seemed a much longer walk than we anticipated! Really enjoyed it though, we too caught bus back!

The walk around the bay to Mal Pas via Bacares and Manresa is fantastic with great views back to PP.

There is also the opportunity to call in at Red Rum for drinks and a snack.

We usually avoid the hike around the bay from PP (5Km) and park on the outskirts of Old Alcudia, stroll down the country lanes to Bacares, round to Mal Pas and back to Old Alcudia.

Don't be put off by houses all the way down to the sea and go inland, stick to the coast around the rocky headlands, the paths are well trod.

If you want to be a bit more adventurous you should head east of Alcúdia around the Ermita de la Victoria and Parc de la Victoria. The views over the bays of Alcúdia and Puerto Pollensa from Talaia d' Alcúdia are spectacular. Check out these books:

Walk! Mallorca North and Mountains (Tour & Trail Maps): Charles Davis:

You'll benefit greatly from the map detailed that goes along with the first book listed here. Otherwise the "landscapes" book (scroll down) has a fold out map and is a good book for the price.

If you won't have a car you can get a bus to Alcudia and start off from there, or taxi to the Ermita and walk back to Alcudia after doing the peaks. I don't arrive 'til the 22nd September unfortunately, and I've got all the books, and the map

Steve.

Here's the bay of Puerto Pollensa taken from the mountains opposite

Alcúdia from the same peak

Mal Pas, the tiny village you can just make out across the bay of Puerto Pollensa

Hi Brisbane,

am afraid that no-one can upload images to the forum. People post links from other sites such as FlickR - see the discussion here:

That sounds a good idea Gorden, we headed up the road away from the beach where it splits at the river outlet. Can you carry on and get all the way around to the lovely beach at Mal Pas, we have driven there and parked but it gets so busy at the weekend, we could walk around first thing, spend the day on the beach, have a few beers and catch the bus or taxi back. How much further around is it from the road?

Yes SWS you can walk all the way round the Manresa headland (they have now fenced off the property now) to the beach and come up to the Bodega de Sol at the 5way roundabout on the way to La Victoria. You can then walk back to Old Alcudia along Camino de Mal Paso. It is a bit of a hike back but well worth it.

Its worth remembering you can stop at Red Rum and also the Bodega del Sol for refreshments. Not sure if a bus is available back to Alcudia from there?
