Default Cala San Vicenc to Coves Blanques Walk

My wife and i had a go at this today, but after about 3 hundred metres, we got
stuck.

The route should have bent round to the right but there was a big locked gate with the a sign about private property.

Can anyone help?

Is there a downloadable file of some sort, other than the "Biodiversitat" flyer?

Chris

That one gave us a false start too but we made it on the end and carried on all the way up La Mola.

Yes - it is the little gate to the right of the big gates. It took me a while to suss it out as it is not signed at all.

It is a nice easy walk. I would like to see how far 'off piste' you can go at the end!

Yea, we did it this morning and stopped at the cave, but noticed others going on.

My wife and i are not experienced at hiking so decided discretion was the better part of valour!

Beautiful morning for it though!!

Back to London tomorrow

Wow, you got high up there Bobley....was there a path taking you to that point?

Many years ago, I scaled the mountains overlooking the port in the left foreground of your pic, with my 8 year old daughter. No paths either....literally jumping from rock to rock.

Great photo!

Is it from the hill just above the cave, or did you have to go much further.

By the way, Gatwick and the M23 were not pretty this afternoon....

That photo was taken at the peak of La Mola in June. If you zoom in to the greenery just right of centre you can see a clear brown line curving through the grass. That is the Cami de Coves Blanques just as it is about to get to it's official end. We then walked 2.1km WSW and up another 350m. It is a marked path on the map but it's very difficult to follow as you only have very small piles of stones to look for and it's a right scrabble in places, leaping from rock to rock in others.

By the middle of august we were back and while our lad and his mate paddled about on the Formentor beach Susie and I went up the valley out of the car park and looped around the right and up to the peak of na Blanca (332m) before scrambling down into the back of the big hotel. That was a bit dicey too.

Our final walk together was in October from Cala Murta up to El Fermat and back down walking through the Formentor tunnel ( I wasn't going to attempt the old steps )..

Sadly Susie passed away 2 weeks ago so I've lost my walking special walking buddy so not sure when I'll be scaling any more peaks but I'll be back in Feb to check the house is okay and I'll be trying to keep my lad amused so I'll be out on my bike instead.

Yeah, sorry I dropped it in there but this is a nice interesting post and I'm sure Susie would be enthused to talk to you all about getting out in the countryside and enjoying the best walking country we've ever known.

Susies cancer re appeared 2.5 years ago and we booked a holiday before she started treatment. Joel wanted to come to Pollenca to go cycling and I'm afraid I knew very little about the place but we booked a villa out on the MA10 called Villa Son Marc just before you hit the first tight corner. We arrived in the middle of the night and went to bed. When we woke up we flung open the shutters and I saw this. I shouted Susie and we had a hug and a teary moment as we knew we'd found something special.

Pollenca means so much to us and Susie always perked up when we got out there. The boys and I will be coming back for years and years, bringing their families with them in time. This forum is a great resource and helps me keep connected to the town and all the nice things we've done there.

I hope that we can have a forum meet sometime.
