Angry Timed Out....

Pollensa.....Wonder if you can check this out for me.......

Done a couple of longish replys to the Worrying Times in PP thread last week , & when I went to the Post Reply button to send the reply (I was logged in ) it completely vanished from the screen & didn't show up on thread, so basically done the same reply 24 hours later, & the same thing happened again!!!!

Just letting you know in case there is some sort of technical problem!...

Cheers......

Love the Pinewalk...

Hello,

It's worth writing out a long message in Word and then copying and pasting the reply to the PP forum. There might be some sort of timeout period when posting a message.

Yes Jane, there is a timeout period and I've been caught with this in the past, particularly frustrating when you've done a long post and it doesn't work and is effectively lost. And it appears you are logged out but you are still logged in!

Have taken it up with Pollensa and the only answer is really to do as you say then do a copy and paste job!

....or split it in half and do a To be cont... How long was it?! We have had some pretty long responses posted directly, so has the timing changed lately?

Am afraid there is nothing we can do as we use standard forum software & have no control over this. The time-out may well depend on your connection, speed, ISP set-up etc.

For any long post, do prepare it first as suggested.

Another option is to write the post in the forum box, press Ctrl-C (to copy to the clipboard), then post it. If you lose it, start again & paste it back (Ctrl-V).

I had this happen to me so many times in the past, it is very annoying. Now i am not sure if this is my imagination but i found when i logged and i ticked the "Remember me" box it didn't happen. In fact i never log out anymore.

Your post is not lost - If you click the down pointing arrow, next to the page back arrow (top left of screen), you will see it there as your previous page (it say's something like 'post reply'). Log in again get that page back on screen and 'hey presto'. I lost many posts before I found an answer!

Thanks for all the info folks....

Probably go down the Word & Paste mode as my typing is not the fastest in the world.....

Thanks WW for the retrieve thing.......Moment has probably passed now for that thread, but will remember for the future...but Pollensafan, what a good thread that was, it certainly brought out what was bubbling under the surface.....

Have a pleasant day.....

Oh and btw!

In doing my brief post on Globespan, in the last half hour, I was timed out.

But no! there are ways round it!

This is a problem that needs sorted, one way or another!

Am sorry but we have no control over this. We use vbulletin software which is used by thousands of other forums. I'm afraid that if you do experience time-out problems then it could well be at your end i.e. your ISP - things get pretty busy over the pre-xmas period although we have the opposite. Everything 'hots' up for us in January when the holiday bookings start with a vengeance!

Hi Pollensa.

Thanks for your post.

It is frustrating when cobbling up a post and it fails!

Thank you again for all your efforts throughout the year, "keeping the troops in order".

And to Martin too!
