Default Mallorcan fabrics

I've often wondered about the origin of the Mallorcan fabrics often seen in villas and apartments we have rented. Although possibly a little out of place in our house, we bought a wipeable tablecloth from the wonderful iron mongers in Pollensa in the "cloth of tongues" design or is it "fabric of flames"? I love it, makes me drift off to Pollensa after each meal when wiping it!

I love this fabric and always hope to see a version of it when renting, I much prefer staying in a property that has a Mallorcan feel rather than a British look. See this link for further information.

When we were in Soller a few years ago we bought some of the fabric and I have covered the cushion on a window seat at home. We also bought some seat pads at the market in Soller so we have our own bit of Mallorca at home in Manchester now.
I saw the seat pads at the market in PP last year - don't think they are too expensive but the original fabric was quite pricey.

I'll make sure I have enough luggage allowance on our next visit for the seat pads!

Much of this fabric is available at Galaeris Vicens on the roundabout in Pollensa. I also have a feeling that a more economical version is available in the haberdashery in Pollensa called Can Xim,,,,, Roman Bridge side of Pollensa.

Yes, you are right JMD - Vicens is hellishly expensive (and also, I have found, on the snooty side - guess the two go together!)
