Default Padded Beach Mats - where to buy?

So instead of wasting a lot of time traipsing around the shops when we come out to PP soon, I thought I should use the forum & ask a question! Last June when we were on Formentor beach making do with our towels, I saw a couple with a pair of padded beach mats. They were striped, like the cushions on garden chairs & folded in three wth a carrying handle & I think a pocket on the outside - a bit like a baby changing mat but bigger!

We've had those bamboo sort but they rot & I'd like padded ones that I can use to do my back exercises in the apartment too!

Amyway, has anyone seen anything similar that you can buy in PP or Alcudia? Thanks in anticipation.

Red face beach mats

Hi Pollensa,

The supermarket down C de Bot, opposite Pollensa Park was selling them in Aug/Sept.

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much. It sounds as if they'll be easy to find!

My husband has a fold-up yoga mat that he takes with him from the UK to do his back exercises - available from any sports shop for about £15 - it's very lightweight and takes up hardly any room in a suitcase. Admittedly it has never doubled as a beach mat and I'm not sure how comfortable it would be given that it is made of plastic - probably if you put a towel on top it would be OK. Certainly he finds it fine when doing his exercises on a tiled floor. To be honest we never use beach mats as the sand is pretty soft. We have found that beach items are quite expensive to buy in PP itself so tend to avoid it if possible.

Unfortunately (?) we only take out hand luggage so I'll have to buy them in PP but at least they can be stored in our apt for future visits.

we used to have a couple - foam pads with covers, 4 panels folded into 1, 2 carry handles, 2 ties to keep it all together, carried papers, sun cream , vino, etc to Exmouth dunes for many a year....marketing opportunity, methinks....

We have the striped fold up beach mats - bought them from the shop under Molins Hotel (CSV) last year. Seem to recall they were 12 euro.
