Red face Eroski

We arrived last w/e and I headed off to the previously named caprabo. The store seemed to still be in chaos and the choice of goods severely restricted compared to what Caprabo used to offer. (Likewise in C'an Pic, passing and needed a midweek topup) I thought maybe the stores were still settling in. Today, I visited thier custom built store, between the Port and Pollenca. Even bigger waste of time. The store is untidy, depressingly drab and lotsa empty spaces on shelves. The checkout queus in all 3 stores were ridiculous.
Some of the Port's Spar shops have a better selection. (And for the record, I wasnt shopping for british brands or food, just my normal grocery shopping.)

Anyone else disappointed in this store ?

Miriam

We didn't visit the Eroski in the port but we went to the one between PP and the old town several times on holiday a few weeks ago. I agree with you - the queues were always long and the choice is very limited. The wine section was terrible.

It's certainly not like the old SYP which at least had some character! One day we went to Mercadona in Alcudia which was a lot bigger and had much more choice of fruit and vegetables but again, the wine section was miserable. Why don't these supermarkets take a pride in the fantastic local wine industry and stock a good choice?

Mercadona's car-park was a nightmare, though and that put us off going again. I was convinced I was going to scrape the car on all the tight corners and pillars.

If I could, I'd do my entire shop at Ensenat in Pollenca! Which reminds me, the Eroski on the outskirts of the town is great - quite small but nice and bright and air-conditioned.

Our favourite Eroski is the one in Alcudia in the little shopping centre that you dont see from the main road. Near the traffic lights and down a one way street. Even though we rent a Villa near Pollensa we drive to this one for food.

Most tourists dont find it, thats why we like it

If you cant find it look for locals with Eroski carrier bags and watch where they appear from

This google map shows it, directly in the middle in the large building you can see.
( ignore the red 'A' on the map)

alcudia, Balearic Isles, Balearic Islands, Spain - Google Maps

Much better than the newer Eroski on the main road between Pollenca and the port.

Mark.

Is that the place with the awful underground car park (nearish to the town)?

If so, I remember it from our last trip in 2001 (and we reckoned it better than anywhere in the more immediate Pollensa area)

Yes - drive into Alcudia from PP and go right at the second set of traffic lights - it's just along on the left hand side of the road. It seems every space has a pillar and to get out you have to negotiate a tight bend - the marks on the posts are testament to how many cars have been scraped!

But the supermarket itself is very good - as I said i just wish that the wine section reflected the fantastic local producers!

Ensenat is in Pollensa, near to the taxi rank, at the start of the pedestrianised area that leads up to the main square. I could spend hours in there - most of the time looking at the wines!

I only stumbled on Ensen(y)at two nights before we left this year. I intend to head up and spend my cash there whenever I can. What a cracking shop.
