Smile Big Supermarkets - No Car

Hello

We'll be in PP in late September and I have a bit of a thing about big Supermarkets (Hypermarket Carrefours and the like), NO not that sort of THING!!!! What big stores can we get to by public transport and obviously where and how?

We don't mind if it takes an hour or so to get there.

Thanks

Schazz

I'd really be surprised if you could find a "hypermarket" outside Palma.

The supermarkets in PP more than adequately cater for self catering requirements.

Maybe there's a business opportunity here for "shopaholic holidays"?

This is a question that I have asked several times with no positive answer. It is not only holiday makers that want a day out shopping but also apartment owners who need to buy household items and Alcampo/Carrefour are the obvious places. There must be a bus from Palma I would have thought.

Is there a bus to Sa Pobla so you can catch the train from there?

Default Who might know?

Thanks. So really we'll need to go to Palma and get transport from there?

I like the hypermarkets because you can usually get great kiddies clothes and a great selection of product. If anyone can help or let me know if there's a forum that I could ask, I would be grateful.

Thanks

Default Hypermarkets

Several years ago, before we stayed in PP, we used to use the big supermarkets at Cala D'Or and Sa Coma. These were enormous and we loved them because you would turn out of the fruit and veg aisle to be met by an aisle of concrete mixers etc! I think they were called Gigante so maybe worth a Google?
