Hi We are coming to stay in the Leo Appartments at the beginning of June. Could someone please give me some tips on the best hypermarkets in the area please.

It depends what you mean by hypermarket. Caprabo is the biggest supermarket & you see it on the left by the big roundabout when you first arrive in Puerto Pollensa.

If you really mean hypermarkets to buy household stuff etc., there is Carrefour & Alcampo nearer to the airport but you are unlikely to need these for a holiday. We use these to buy stuff for our apartment. I'm sure that Caprabo will have everything you need. More info on www.puertopollensa.com/shops.html

Then Caprabo will be fine. There are also several smaller ones e.g. Spar's etc. dotted about. I don't know Gommar that well where Leo is, so perhaps someone else can point out the nearerst ones.

There is a small supermarket next to The Rosa Blanca bar which is 2 minutes walk from Leo Apartments. But if you have a car Caprabo is better..more choice and cheaper. It is only 5 minutes away and you can do a 'big shop' there and then get bread etc on a daily basis from the smaller one. By the way we stayed at Leo a few years ago and it was very nice 8)

Many thanks to you both for your feedback. Caprabo's it is then - I am looking to stock up on meats, cheeses soft and alcoholic drinks etc for breakfasts and lunches, can you recommend any local specialities
I will probably get a taxi there and back on our first day.

We are hoping to eat our evening meals out every day but that may prove to be expensive with 4 children !!!!!

Paul,
Then Caprabo's the place. They have a cheese area in the back of the store with a good selection of regional cheeses.
Bakery's right up front as you enter the store.

We always use the caprabo, the baguettes are good, cakes bad but good, also loads of cheap spanish wine, also very good, the fish stall is amazing, you can get everything there. Also before you get into the port, between Pollensa and the port, on the right is an eroski, which isn't as big,but their bakery is superb.

No,only when you pointed it out.Oh well, the thought was there.
If you are going towards the port surely it's on the right,or is my memory that bad.
