Yeah I was sad to see the closing down sign also. I havent been in a few years however probably and partially due to 2 experiences, both probably common.
Bringing a childs buggy in there is a big mistake, as you will end up broke if you pay for all the attachments youve gathered to it as you negotiate around the narrow "aisles", never mind the cost of the bottles you'll break!
I spent a good hour pottering around the top floor looking for a nice bottle of wine to bring home. Invested in an ancient Marquis de Mueretta Reserve which, had I not poured it down the sink I would not be sitting here writing this now, rank is a word that comes to mind. The heat on the top floor cant be good for storage.
Having said all that I will miss him and the place. Halifax, and now Barclays....what does that say about the changing PP?
Well done on the smile Frito
Killian

I went into Mir on our last day to have a look around and to take some photos. However, I wasn't able to go up the stairs at all - there was a piece of string tied across to stop anyone going up.

It was a real shame. The ground floor was packed with groceries, though and I for one will miss being able to pop in and see all the different wines on the upper floors.

I noticed early last week that Mir was still open - albeit with very little in it...It had closed by the end of the week.End of an era.

Devestated We could go on for ever discussing the first time we went upstairs and saw wierd creatures lurking in dusty bottles, whoever drank those anyway? The Indians are definately winning the war - what a shame.

Hi cd...and Happy New Year!

What I do is to click onto the photo on Flickr and then click on "All sizes" - when the photo appears I choose "medium" and then I copy and paste the second URL thread.

Just click onto "image" to the left of this page (as you said) and paste the thread into the new window.

It should then appear.
