Default Little-Britain-Foods.

I have just found out that the Little Britain shop in Alcudia is hoping to move to PP in the next few weeks .

A sarcastic grrreat! If Brits want British produce, then stay in Britain. I will enjoy and support the Mallorcan offerings.

Absolutely.
I'd have thought Alcudia would be a far better place for such a shop anyway?
Also, nearly every shop in the port sells many British products.
It won't last. Just like the other one in town didn't, whatever it was called.

I think that is a bit harsh Big Sal, myself and i suspect most Brits who live here almost always buy Mallorcan/Spanish equivalents but sometimes we fancy something that is not available here so it's nice to be able to treat ourselves, each to their own .

According to their comments on FB they are moving to PP because the rent in Alcudia was too high and also they say most of their customers live here.

BFS Euromart closed for family reasons not because the business wasn't successful.

I hope it is better in PP than it was in Alcudia.

The opening hours seemed to be inconsistent and there was very little stock. I suggest that you also check the "sell by" dates - as I guess you would in any store of this type.

We were chatting to the owners of Multi Hire when we were over at the beginning of the month and they told us then about the Little Britain move, although they said it was all a bit hush hush at that time.

They were confused by the move as they said they closed the food side of their business because of lack of demand at that time, plus the advent of the likes of Lidl (which if you go into the store on the Pollensa road it looks almost identical to our local store in Milton Keynes!) meant there really wasn't a market for another store of British goods.

It sounds like you are willing this business to fail before it even opens, maybe it will but please lets give them a chance.

I for one will definitely use this shop, I used the British food shop and was really sad when they closed. I live here and love Puerto Pollensa but there are a lot of Spanish foods which I cannot eat. It is nice to have the option to buy what suits me and I would imagine there are other people that are like me.

I hope Little Britain will stock their shop better than at present, which in turn will attract more custom for them.

I too used to like shopping in the BFS as much for the warm and friendly welcome from a lovely family making a living as for a few of the products that I enjoy from home at excellent prices with products very much IN date. If we were to adhere to the Big Sal attitude to life, when at home in Britain we'd need to go to India for our curry, Italy for our pasta, China for our ...... you get the picture. And locals who eat non-Mallorcan food are destined for the gallows?
Local food snobbery is just too parochial. We, and most people we know, enjoy a globalised world where we can access a fantastic choice of local and other products wherever we happen to live/visit.
Whilst we 'enjoy and support Mallorcan offerings' a lot, I wonder when we'll be told we're selling out if we visit Little Italy or the curry houses in the port because they aren't offering Mallorcan food!!
