Stumbled across this video, and thought it would be of interest...

I randomly found this video on t'internet, and thought it would be of interest to PP visitors to what the neighbours get up to in the military base...

What a great find Kev, thanks for posting it :D.

Utterly brilliant... wonderful clear views of plane(s), sea, countryside, PP and some other places I didn't recognise.
Watch the video... an excellent way to spend four and a half minutes of your time!

WOW! Thanks Kev! The music was amazing with it too! A little concerned about the final shot though! ;) Great video!

Brilliant find Kev :) Just watched it again and it was just as thrilling. They really do come in that low over the apartment blocks...usually mine early in the morning!!! It's a good wake up call

Wow! Fabulous. Thanks so much for posting this. :D:D:D

A fantastic find, Kev. Such a fascinating insight. What amazes me is the enormous strain that must be put on the poor plane, particularly when it takes on more water - they look as if they're made of balsa wood! And as for the close up of the pilots - they looked as if they were using their joysticks as if they were taking part in some World Rally Championship!

Great bit of video. Just a shame mine kept freezing all the time for some reason?

I agree, great video.

I had the same problem until I turned the HD off by clicking on the HD icon on the bottom right of the video window.

It must be down to broadband speed and the power of your computer?

Now its time for "place spotting"!!

Can we have the "seconds into the film" and the location?:p

I think I spotted, but did not record the time, Illa D'Or, Airbase, Either Gorge Blau or was it Cuba, Roof of Don Pedro in CSV.

However, I may be wrong  so lets have some contributions please.

The Grupo43 Video is very interesting and if watched closely shows at least 8 separate aircraft in action. Most of them are the Canadair CL-215’s that we have seen in Puerto Pollensa over the years but three of them - numbers 31, 32 and 33 - are the later Bombardier CL-415 model.
The original Canadair 215’s were built between 1969 and 1990 - 125 aircraft were constructed.
The newer Bombardier 415’s were first delivered in 1994 and about 80 aircraft have been made so far. All the planes were built in Quebec, Canada and some work is done in Ontario.
The Spanish air force has twenty CL-215’s (of which Groupo43 has 14) and three CL-415’s all of which are with Groupo43. The earlier planes are nicknamed ‘Scoopers’ and the later model is nicknamed the ‘Superscooper’.
The CL-215 can scoop up 5346 litres of water (1176 gallons) cruise at 291 km/hour (181 mph) and has a range of 2260 km (1405 miles).
The CL-415 can scoop up 6137 litres of water (1350 gallons) cruise at 331 km/hour (207 mph) and has a range of 2428 km (1518 miles).
** The CL-415 costs $26million each.

E.G. - I think ‘place spotting’ may be difficult as it could be that some of the video is taken over mainland Spain; though some of it is certainly in Mallorca with several shots of P.P.

Now for something completely different! Well, it made me laugh:

Lol, fantastic Jonsey, I suppose doing a job like that you need to keep your sense of humor, brilliant!! :)

pescador2009 17-10-2012 16:41

So..... a load of loony's in Grupo43!!!!! Amazing!
Who wants to fly a flashy jet when you can have so much fun (whilst also being very serious fighting fires) in a Canadair CL-215.
Have a look at the other videos related to the one 'Jonsey' gave the link to.
The one titled "Salida y regresso muy especiales" shows a Canadair landing in the bay at PP after a day's firefighting near Barcelona. Try it full screen. All the way from touching down on the sea up to stopping on the concrete apron at 'The Base'.
