Default MEMORY LANE

Hi All

I recently came across some great pics of c/ Mendez Nunez BEFORE the Flora, Trios, Supermarkets, Pepe's Bar etc., wre built, and before they destroyed my beautiful Hostal! Maybe some of you remember those days?

I hope this link leads you to the pics. Never used Flicker before so please bear with me.

Hello Ru

At least WE have our memories. Some of our fellow members are not so fortunate. They didn't know Puerto in those halcyon days!

Hope we can meet up again very soon for another wander down Memory Lane.

Love to you both

Gina

Hi Gina,

Thank you for those photo's of Mendez Nunez. For the last 5 years we have spent our summer holidays staying there so it is an area we know very well.

It is very interesting to see just how the landscape was before 1967 .

Derek.

Hello Derek

Thanks for that! It is STILL a great area - we keep an apartment over the Brit Food shop & still love to go out 3 or 4 times a year. Just thought the pics might be of interest to those who didn't know the area before. I've got plenty more somewhere of all the Port as it was in those days. Must dig them out sometime.

If you're out in Mendez Nunez next year maybe we'll meet up sometime.

Enjoy!

Gina

Nice foto's! They seem to be taken from where our current apartment is, Orqudea. The people who bought them originaly tell me you could hear and see the bells of the sheep as they made there way up to the Bouquer valley.

Very true Smiddy. Looking out from my Hostal Luz del Mar terrace (before the buildings went up) was a magnificent view! All you could see were fields full of sheep and those beautiful mountains! And at the back of my music bar (where Trios etc is now) was a small chicken farm!

How times have changed! I think it's called progress?!?
